If you go to amazon.com to the 360 add-on and look through the reviews.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/cus...nDate&n=468642 You'll see my review under my name - Steven Burke I've already had 66 unhelpful votes and 16 comments, all but one lashing out at me. It's quite a good laugh if you want to read it. Am I really saying anything that's not true though? That's what I'd like to know from you guys. ![]() |

While looking at the customer reviews with 5 star ratings I think this is highly suspect.
Since I know the product's limitations in both sound and video (which by the way is supposed to be the point of a Hi Def format!) how could there possibly be that many flawless reviews of this strap-on, afterthought product? Either one person wrote all of those reviews under many aliases or there are a bunch of HD-DVD lemmings over at [you know where] who are doing their duty by "spreading the word" at Amazon. Unbelievable! If you think this is bad now, wait until they're really desperate. This will be a tough week for them. By the way, I too think this product was Microsoft's pitiful stab at Sony because they are jealous of the success of Playstation and they want to delay the early adoption of Blu-ray. I agree with Dan Ramer over at DVDFile.com that Microsoft doesn't really care about HD-DVD, but would rather control online HD video distribution. In the Microsoft model, all HD movies would use their codec and their software to play it back so that they can rape us all for even more money. Sorry guys, just ranting a bit . . . |

They are blinded by the Microsoft light. I see a lot of disappointment when ICT comes rolling by and then a class action suit.

Not worth it as $200 device especially since its external add-on crap that doesn't support HD-Audio and component outputs for 1080p are very rare since only a few TVs support them. So you're just left with VGA.
Slash it by 50% and I might actually consider this external add-on crap. Looks like this device has failed ![]() |

Well, I'm not really a proponent of HD-DVD and I truly believe that the Blu-ray format will win out in the end. That being said.....I've had a 360 since launch last year. I have bashed the HD-DVD add-on, especially of late since it's release. Even after my own bashing of the add-on......I will be picking up this little device. Why? The cost just can't be passed up. $200 minus a $40 Circuit City coupon......and you get a copy of King Kong ($20) and a remote ($20). So....I get a basic HD-DVD player for $120......that's pocket change.
I've been patiently waiting for a suitable Blu-ray player to come out. Now I figure....what's wrong with having both? Surely, most of my movies will be purchased for the Blu-ray.....but for those few HD-DVD exclusives, I got a cheapo player to play them on. In addition.....I happen to have one of the few HDTVs that accept 1080p via component (Sammy HL-S6187W). I'll take the hit on the audio for the few titles I watch on HD-DVD. By the time they start using the ITC.....I'm sure a winner in this race will be declared and I'll either (A) have no use for the HD-DVD add on anymore, (B) purchase a standalone player by then. I'm not backing those that are still obviously uninformed about the add-on player. I'm just adding that even informed buyers still may opt to get the add-on. |
