Default Tokyo Decadence (1992) coming from Unearthed Films

Tokyo Decadence Blu-ray

Unearthed Films is releasing 1992 Japanese Pink film Tokyo Decadence on bluray. It's been in the works for a while but it's finally coming out soon. The DVD was rough so this is a welcome upgrade. Very solid movie. Rated NC-17 for extremely graphic sex scenes. My personal favorite pink film, although I haven't seen that many to be fair. Already sold my DVD in preparation.

Quote:
In the most lavish penthouses, visible only through keyholes, there exists a dangerous and erotic world. High-paid prostitutes who specialize in high-stakes games make the rounds. The richer the client, the wilder the ride. When fantasy gets too rough for one young call-girl, escaping becomes her reality. Includes: Featurette, English Language Dub, Stills Gallery, Trailers
Quote:
Unearthed Films will bring to Blu-ray Ryû Murakami's cult thriller Tokyo Decadence (1992), starring Miho Nikaido, Sayoko Amano, Tenmei Kano, Masahiko Shimada, Yayoi Kusama, and Hiroshi Mikami.
Up for pre-order on Diabolik for only $21.99. Exact release date is TBD. According to Diabolik, it's mid-December. According to Amazon, it's mid-January.

Trailer (although it really doesn't do the movie justice, plus it's a really old low-quality trailer with no English subs):

I never dreamed Ryu Murakami was ever gonna make it to Blu at all.
Hoping they manage to do Almost Transparent Blue, that one is currently stuck on VHS.

This is super exciting. I've never watched it but that cover sold me within a matter of seconds. I'm happy to see it has the original Japanese language track.

This will be a day-one!

Release is January 18th. Diabolik is listing the pre-book date (12/14) for retailers to purchase their copies by.

It's safe to say that no matter what the actual release date is, ol' Jesse will send these out as soon as stock hits his shop, which should still be way ahead of the official release date. Hell, I had The Untold Story a whopping two weeks early.

How are the subtitles? Are they good, or wonky?

not a pink film, though. nikkatsu roman porno, yes. pink, no.

very similar kind of thing, but pink tends to be cheap and independent and RP was fa4 more expensive and from a major studio struggling to find commercial success with other stuff.

I assume it will be. Getting it regardless though.

Have you seen the DVD? Do you know if the German release was a big upgrade over that?

I sold my DVD about a month ago for $49.95 because I had a feeling this would get a release date/pre-order soon, I'm going to hell

Here's hoping A New Love in Tokyo (1994) is next at bat.

If you've ever wanted to see

But he doesn't die. At least not in the US version, where he comes to as the two girls are going to leave. Is there a further scene where he dies in the longer cut?

Only thing I know about this film is from that Tarantino: Interviews book. One of the interviewers mentions the night before the first screening of Reservoir Dogs, Tarantino and his cast went to a theater to watch Tokyo Decadence together. When the interviewer entered the room, the actors were describing scenes from the film and giggling like school girls about it. I'm intrigued to check it out, but will probably wait to hear what others think first.

If that cover doesn't convince you, nothing anyone can say will convince you.

Does anyone know if this new Blu-ray release from Unearthed will include the Special Features that were included on the 2008 Cinema Epoch DVD, like the interviews with Ryu Murakami and Ryuichi Sakamoto?
