Default Don't Go in the House (2-disc edition) from Severin

Well, this announcement made my day. I am surprised there isn't a thread yet, so here goes nothing. I am glad I didn't shell out for the Scorpion Blu-ray. I came close, but instead held onto my DVD edition. Glad Severin has a hold of this—they are a good fit for it. The exclusive slipcover they have for this is killer—I've always loved that video artwork with he burnt body and the fire suit. It's so creepy. Definitely will be getting this directly from Severin just because of that.

Filmed about a mile away from where I grew up in NJ! The house is now owned and maintained by the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society and is open to the public as a museum:

Severin do an occasional podcast and they talk about DGITH on their latest episode.

https://severin-films-podcast.libsyn...nasty-new-year

It's worth listening to the whole thing but skip to about 8m40s to hear what they have to say about the audio.

This seems to have framing issues so the 1.85:1 is going to crop the picture info at the bottom.

The "Unmatted Scene" is an extra on the disc and therefore not included within the film itself so that is a downer.

Looks like a pretty nice release. Interested to see what Arrow will include in comparison.

Severin said they pushed their release to Jan (instead of black friday) to coincide with the UK Arrow release which makes me wonder, didn’t Arrow already announce their January slate lol so I Guess maybe their release will be Feb?

Yeah they already announced Jan titles so maybe its coming Feb or even later and wonder if Severin will still release in Jan

Based on the way it was teased out by James Flower, I think Arrow will just do an impromptu announcement of it soon, and it could still be added to the January slate. We'll see.

Nicer packaging

Seriously, I'm undecided on which version I'm getting. Both are expected to contain the exact same specs, no? Only Arrow's packaging will probably be nicer vs. a likely slipless generic case from Severin. Arrow's will also probably have a booklet. This isn't among my most-anticipated double dips so it'll come down to who has the best physical presentation.

I think you are missing the point that there is a framing issue in this release so buy at your peril.

Is the slipcover exclusive to Severin’s site? I couldn’t find anything confirming it was an exclusive.

I think it is a Severin exclusive; I'm assuming other retailers won't have it.

Just because a previous DVD was unmatted doesn't make a new one incorrect when it is matted properly

This is what the unmatted one looks like (credit to KowalskiVideo)

How anyone could think that's how it's supposed to look like is beyond me. Would it be nice to also have that version as an option? Sure, but in no way is Severin wrong for just releasing the intended ratio version. This is such a ridiculous discussion to even be having.
