Default 480p look better in blu?

Does a blu movie at 480p look better than regular dvd at 480p?

I tried this with casino royale to do some comparisons with 1080i. I thought it looked very good compared to a standard dvd. I'd say it's got to do with the fact that it's encoded at 1080p and that it's pushing more bits around than a dvd.

Sounds good. im trying to justify buying a blu player because mysharp xr10x projector isnt giving a true 720p picture

good question. it has1024x768 res and it shows that it gets 720p and 1080i but it is being downscaled so if u know please tell me

Ive had this explained to me but still not sure what "p"im getting but its not 720p.I thought i was seeing a big difference because house of 1000 and casino royale looked awesome but maybe it was my mind playing tricks

It can, but it doesn't mean it will

The bandwidth of Blu should provide all the space a 480p image should need, but there have yet to be any 480p material re-encoded for that spec, nor are you likely to see any in the near future

I imagine the only times you'll see that done is concerts shot on videotape reissued to take advantage of the expanded audio on Blu

Forgot to say that i only did it by forcing the PS3 output resolution at 568p
