F1: The Movie (2025)

On Friday afternoon, a bidding war kicked off amongst Hollywood’s major studios over an untitled Formula One film that has Brad Pitt attached to star, Deadline has confirmed.

The film will be helmed by Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski, with that Paramount blockbuster’s screenwriter Ehren Kruger and its producer Jerry Bruckheimer also in the mix.

While no information has been provided yet as the story the film will examine, we hear that British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton is involved in some capacity, as well. Paramount is joined in the bidding war by studios including MGM, Sony, Universal and Disney with Netflix, Apple and Amazon also competing to lock the film down. [+]

Intrigued about what era of the F-1 they will focus on.

As F1's popularity grows in Hollywood's domestic market, this makes sense. I would love more films and shows based around F1, IndyCar, DTM, Super GT, Le Mans, etc.

Ron Howard's film several years ago (Rush) was excellent, as is Grand Prix from 55 years back. A film set during modern F1 would be nice, but I'll take anything we can get.

But instead of a token release in a small number of theaters or a day-and-date opening, the movie would have an exclusive — and global — run of at least 30 days (one source says it could even go as high as 60 days) before heading to the Apple TV+ platform.

In another first, insiders say the theatrical component is structured in a way that would see Apple and the filmmakers split the take from the big-screen release 50-50.

I read an article where Pitt thinks he suffers from Face Blindness. I had never heard of this illness before. It's where he has a hard time recognizing faces of people that he knows.

I remember an episode of Picket Fences in the 1990's had an episode that dealt with face blindness. It is a really weird illness. I can't imagine it would be easy to deal with.

Formula 1 cars are incredible. They have RPMs of 21,000 too. The new bars on the cars seem like they're right in the way of the driver's view, but I guess it's for safety.
Driven is actually a fun Formula 1 car movie. Rush was interesting. Hopefully this will focus on the racing aspect as much as possible, and show some street circuit city races too, like Super Monaco Grand Prix.

Brad Pitt Charms Crowds At British Grand Prix Where He Will Film Scenes For Formula One Film

Brad Pitt has appeared trackside at the British Grand Prix, where he will be filming scenes for his forthcoming Formula 1 feature film.

The Oscar winner met fans and posed for photographs in the paddock at the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire, England.

Pitt is working with former F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton on the film for Apple Original Films, and F1 is collaborating on the project, which means access all areas for the all-star cast and crew. CNN reports that Pitt and his co-stars will even film their own pitstop beside the famous track.

Pitt will star as a former driver returning to the sport with a fictional F1 team, alongside actor Damson Idris (Snowfall) as his teammate.

Interest in Formula One has mushroomed in recent years with much credit going to Netflix behind-the-scenes documentary series Drive to Survive. Max Verstappen is currently leading the real-life drivers’ championship.

Called the Halo and has been mandatory since 2018. If has saved several drivers from serious injury or worse.
