I'm guessing this will probably cover the 60's to the 80's or early 90's with the Miura, Countach, etc Last edited by moreorless; 11-02-2022 at 08:17 AM. |

Ford v Ferrari was great, bought the 4k, and pleased to see Mira Sorvino still acting, like her a lot, she was awesome in The Replacements killers, looking forward to see her in that new film..

I need to give The Replacements Killers another shot (no pun intended). I remember being bored to death while watching it. But this was many years ago and I watched it late at night, so I was probably just very tired.

Not sure if an entire movie can be made about the car company but basically the company was created out of anger, lol. Ferrucio Lamborghini who was a tractor maker bought a Ferrari 250 and made some comments to Enzo about a few performance issues he had with the car. Enzo told him to essentially screw off. Then, off he went to make a better exotic car. Who knows, maybe it will be good.

But to be clear, the article suggests to me that the focus will be more on Feruccio himself, not necessarily Lamborghini the auto company. Sort of how Scorsese's Aviator was centered on Hughes more than any of his achievements or business ventures. |

Hollywood 'biopics' are usually something like 20% factual and 80% fiction.
This one will be no different. The screenwriters will just make up stuff to suit the narrative they (and their 'sponsor') want to tell/sell to the audience. ![]() |

The story of Ferrucio going to Enzo about his Ferrari issues and getting told to bugger off and leading to him building his own supercar is and always will be an inspired story. Even if the later years and corporate ownerships aren't as interesting. |

This project had been in development hell for nearly a decade, as was Michael Mann's "Ferrari" picture which is finally coming out next year. It was "Ford v Ferrari's" critical and financial success that Hollywood finally changed their tune about the subject matter, and have since started to green light automotive based films again, as they spent nearly 30 years pointing to Francis Ford Coppola's "Tucker: The Man and His Dream" as an example that movies about the auto industry don't make money. "Tucker" was well received, but not a box office hit.
I know this to be true, as I spent nearly 25 years trying to get my own project based on "DeLorean" made, as did several other competing producers, and is discussed in great length in "Framing John DeLorean." Every studio executive would say the same thing, "movies about the car industry aren't successful, no matter how interesting the subject matter." Quote:
That being said, one biggest problem with turning true stories into a narrative form is there's always several different "true accounts" of what really happened, he said/she said, who do you believe, and what's the actual truth of what happened? Usually it's always somewhere in the middle. There's also not always having enough information, what was said or done on a particular day that's essential to the story, but there isn't a transcript of what was really said or done. A good writer with the knowledge of the characters will figure out to how make it work, but course, it's never going to be one hundred percent accurate. I understand what you're saying though, and yes, there a lot of biopics aren't very truthful. I have one good longtime friend who hates biopics, for that reason alone. However not every biopic is set out to do that, and not every one is like that either. "Tucker: The Man and His Dream" was pretty accurate, as is "Ford v Ferrari." I'm going to take a wild leap of faith and assume Michael Mann's "Ferrari" movie is going to be pretty damn accurate, as he's a Ferrari fanatic, owns several of them, and is close with the Ferrari family. |
