Default The Godfather: The Complete Epic 1901-1959

Does anyone know if this will receive an official release at all in the future? This is my preferred version and would love to have a physical copy of it on my shelf.

For those that don't know this is a re-edit of the first 2 movies into chronological order and contains extended and deleted scenes.

My Twitter exchange with James Mockoski back in early October who is the Film Archivist and Restoration Supervisor for American Zoetrope. Back in October I asked him this question and he kindly responded:

Curious, will The Godfather Epic that was edited in chronological order of I & II with additional scenes ever get a physical disc release? If I recall Coppola wasn’t really thrilled about that version.

No, it really destroys how GF2 was presented and the main reason why Francis was never a fan of the idea. The additional scenes have been made available on previous releases as extras.

It's just surprising that the TV Version and home video versions were both scanned in HD, then.

Best as I can remember, this version was last seen on HBO so maybe they needed an HD version for that?

On what release are the extra scenes? I know there's a scene with Kay and Michael in bed receiving a call from the first film, and extra Fanucci scenes from part 2. Where are those available separately?

Thanks for the reply, Guydowood.

I can understand why he doesn't want to allow this but I'll still hope for an official release of thins, being my favourite version.

Extremely unlikely.

Coppola was greatly opposed to doing it at the time and felt that removing the flashback structure destroyed the original intent. He remade it purely for commercial reasons (to fund Apocalypse now)

I watched Epic on HBO in 2016, which is closer to the original Saga and not the previously cut Epic.
