Default Best Dumb TV?

With the abundance of Apple TV boxes and Fire Sticks etc, looking for what would be the best dumb TV, i.e. a TV with optimum standards of picture quality, resolution, refresh-rate etc. with little care to the function or speed of the pre-installed "smart" software. I say this, because an actual "DUMB TV" likely doesn't exist any more, but if one does, will take that recommendation too.

Apologies if this is redundant, please link any other thread if you know of one.

All TVs will have their basic features, it just depends on how much you want to spend, and the size screen you want. Vizio, TCL and Hisense are the three bestselling budget TVs that you can buy. Any other off brand tvs I wouldn't trust buying.

I have 2 Insignia HD TV's (both between 43"-50") and have had zero problems with them.

Oh yes I forgot about Insignia, they're a pretty good brand as well.

Insignia displays are actually just cheap displays from China branded by Best Buy as Insignia.

Which is typical because, many brands of TVs and audio equipment companies use parts from other manufacturers to build their TV and A/V receivers. Sony uses LG panels for their OLEDs. When a person buys a Sony OLED TV, they're getting an LG panel.

But the difference with the Sony is that you are getting parts from another genuine manufacturer, rather than some no-name Chinese manufacturer.

All new high-end displays are equipped with smart features. You may disable Automatic Content Recognition in settings.

There are no dumb TVs. Buy whatever OLED you can afford (Sony, Panasonic, LG) and hook an Apple TV up to it.

Perhaps a top of the line plasma, though they might be tough to find as they haven't been made for several years and you'd likely need to demo it in person as there could be damage or image retention. Haven't bought a tv in several years, but I'd imagine even an average tv now is fairly decent and it will be 4k.

My parent's got a Samsung display model (used on the wall) from Best Buy and it didn't have any smart apps. That was about 5 years ago. Sadly, the backlight went out and no one was willing to repair it.

If you want a new dumb TV you're probably going to need to buy a hospitality TV which will be more expensive than a regular TV.
