Quote:
Christopher Walken stars as novelist Whitley Strieber in this tense alien abduction thriller. Vacationing at his family's home in the woods, Whitley is awakened one night by bright lights outside his window. The next morning, he believes he dreamed of being taken by aliens to a spaceship. As the frequency of these "dreams" increases, he wonders: are these encounters just hallucinations, or is this really happening? In desperation, he seeks out a therapist who may help Whitley expose the truth. Based on Strieber's own experiences, this eerie precursor to The X-Files delivers some genuine chills and adds fuel to the debate about whether we are alone in the universe.

I'm really surprised this is a limited site exclusive. Seems like a big get, but maybe I just travel in weird circles.

I haven’t seen it in awhile but I remember really liking this film. The book is also fantastic.

They're still using the director modified aspect ratio instead of the original theatrical 1.85 framing that the cinematographer prefers? That's too bad, this would've been a good chance to fix that revisionism.

The book was genuinely terrifying, the movie was weird but Interesting. This could use a remake.

I ordered this right away. Made it easy to pull the trigger on the sale items in my cart so I could get free shipping.

Note that this is the first home video release in the U.S. to feature the extended European version of the film. It runs 2 minutes longer. The disc also features all bonus features from the latest DVD release (from Hen's Tooth Video back in 2010) save for some footage from a UFO documentary made by the director of Communion.

$6.99 for shipping on something that will 100% be shipped in a cheap bubble mailer with media mail shipping. Ridiculous.

I imported the Italian blu-ray not even a month ago, will be interested to see some comparisons. That release isn’t great and I hope this is an improvement

I did the same. I think I paid $8 shipped which is less than what Shout charges to ship to Canada

It wouldn't be a limited site exclusive if it was..

Very creepy movie with an unsettling musical score. Ordered this immediately. Love this film and don’t want to miss out. Grabbed it. No regrets.

I wish I could get excited about this but I already own the import. There's nothing in the specs that say this is from a new scan - and it really needs one. Even the cover art is the same. Good for those who don't already have this, though (or only have the DVD).

I definitely want this, but the $7 shipping charge pushes this out of an acceptable price range for me (last time I ordered their website exclusives, they arrived in a thin bubble mailer with the cases all busted up) and I don't feel like adding a bunch of stuff I don't want to the order to push it over the $50 free shipping threshold.

I remember this movie scaring the crap out of me as a kid when my parents rented this in 1990 and I was 10 years old. To me, alien abduction stuff is the scariest of all horror. I remember avoiding the film even into adulthood because I remember how much it freaked me out as a child. I consider myself very hard to scare, especially in terms of horror movies, so I'm pretty sure I'm finally ready to revisit this one. I'm game!

Yes! Very similar experience here, and we're about the same age. I can recall watching the Nightmare and Friday the 13th movies, and similar fare at sleepovers in elementary school, and while maybe being scared a little here and there, it was nothing like this movie. I was legit freaked out for a while after I saw Communion.

What scared me the most were the scenes in the cabin right before the abductions. There was one scene where
[Show spoiler]a "grey" alien peeks his head on a doorway
that really creeped me out and I remember having to sleep with the lights on for several days after!

Christopher Walken and Aliens together = sold. Seriously I have an import BD of this but I do hope this release is better. With only 1,500 copies being available I didn't want to miss out. Good movie.

that scene got to me too, and one peering at the foot of the bed
yeah this movie kept me up at night as a kid, alien abduction stories always did. I finally revisited it about 5 years ago and it is just way too campy for it to hold any creep factor for me now
