Default Does Paramount have any class?

I think it is a real pricks trick to keep trying to suck people into a dead format.
If paramount had any class at all they would go blu and clean up the mess they started last year. I never really disliked a film studio before I think paramount are a bunch of scumbags.

My thoughts exactly. I wonder what the late Mr Roddenberry would think of the conduct of the studio holding the rights to his creation (specifically with reference to the ethics espoused in the franchise). They are certainly at odds.

Paramount is going very very far down in my estimation.

Gee, anybody remember how LONG it took paramount to come to the party with even DVD? How many years before non-bare bones Star Trek turned up. They were pretty bad in a lot of ways.

They're chained to a contract of greed and short-sightedness that they signed.

I'm sure they're regretting their decision now.

Umm, class? This is the same company that brings you MTV, the channel formerly known as Music Television, but not it's basicall Reality tv. VH-1 is now reality hits 1.

I am shocked that there has never been a discussion on this forum about this, especially that they would not have some kind of stickied topic about Univeral or Paramount.
Now that someone has finally expressed an opinion like this, I think I find myself leaning that way too.
Thanks!

They need to legally get out of the contract and that takes time.

Yeah, it's a shame, because I used to like putting on MTV and watching some videos. Then they filled the channel with stuff that had little to no connection to music because it get higher ratings.

So I was interested when they rolled out MTV 2, which was supposed to be nothing but wall-to-wall videos all day long, with a continuous mix of music styles instead of segregating each style on its own show.

But my cable provider didn't pick up MTV 2, and by the time I was able to get it several years later it was essentially just a copy of the MTV, with the same non-music tripe filling most of the time.

Back on topic (in this off-topic thread)...

I think that Paramount will flip very soon, that the stories that indicated that they exercised an out clause in their contract were true.

I doubt the out clause let them just immediately switch sides and start trashing HD DVD. It may very well have let them trigger something that would let them out in 30-90 days.

If not, they probably still want to ramp up production and be ready to hit the ground running.

Personally, I don't care, as long as they start making Blu-ray Discs. They can drop HD DVD or not; it's really irrelevant to me.

I agree. Nothing but greed and short-sightedness. But what else can you really expect from Hollywood?

Hopefully those chains have gotten weaker though, and they'll be able to break free soon.

Paramount has two choices which I could live with:

1. Release on Blu (preferably exclusive)
2. Stop making movies that I want to buy and sell the rights to existing movies to another studio which releases on Blu.

I know their business sense isn't all that great, but I think the choice is obvious.

They will. Have a little patience.

The reappearance of recently unavailable Paramount BD's is a clear sign.

Not that I'm defending what they did on August 20, 2007. Believe me, I'm not. It was incredibly stupid and reprehensible.
