Universal Studios The Munsters (2022)

The Munsters Blu-ray

Quote:
From writer/director Rob Zombie comes the strangest love story ever told. Lily is just your typical 150-year-old, lovelorn vampire looking for the man of her nightmares . . . that is until she lays eyes on Herman, a seven-foot-tall, green experiment with a heart of gold. It's love at first shock as these two ghouls fall fangs over feet in this crazy Transylvanian romance. Unfortunately, it's not all smooth sailing in the cemetery as Lily's father The Count has other plans for his beloved daughter's future, and they don't involve her bumbling beau Herman. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll howl at the moon as The Munsters make their way to Mockingbird Lane!

The Munsters: Return to Mockingbird Lane

I was looking forward to this.

Then I heard the trailer was met with scorn.

Watched the trailer yesterday 🙀

Looks like it may be a sweep at the Razzie Awards next year….😬

Glad it's not actually a Netflix exclusive. I know some of the past 1440 films also had day-and-day home video and Netflix releases but this one was starting to sound different.

Still wish they would add a option to watch in b&w though.

Would've been nice. Guess I'll try it with my color off.

Yeah I’ll be getting this. I’m one of five people that genuinely enjoy most of Zombie’s films and one of two people that loved El Superbeasto, so I’m interested to see how he handles PG-rated camp lol

I was bummed to learn that this was going to Netflix instead of theaters. There feels like a distinct lack of films making it to theaters these days and this is one that I actually would have considered going to.

With Zombie attached I really wasn't sure what to expect as while I normally tend to enjoy his works, not everything hits the mark for me. I had high hopes however that he was going to be able to re-capture some of the weirdness that was the early 90's tv to movie films like Addams Family, Casper, Brady Bunch, Flintstones, etc. and possibly even revive that kind of film in Hollywood for a short bit once again.

I am glad to see a day one Blu-Ray as opposed to a streaming service exclusive however and will be keeping an eye on this one moving forward as it is something I'm sure I'll pick up.

Edit: Just checked out the trailer... was this shot on video entirely in front of a green screen? It has a very odd look about it. Either way, if this get's a 4k release it's going to sear a persons eyeballs as the color palate looks insane and might be the most colorful film I've ever witnessed.

I feel the opposite: I wish I had more time to watch all the fabulous films that are in theatres.

Just watched the trailer.

There are films that are
  1. bad
  2. really bad
  3. so bad it's good
  4. awful
  5. you want to rip your eye balls from their sockets and plug them in your ears so you can't see nor hear the movie

My vote after the trailer is the last one
