Thanks for posting this, I received an email alert from zavvi about this and I like the look and content. But are you saying it's an exclusive or not, as your post starts with "zavvi are doing..." so that would imply it's exclusive? I hope not, and also, that there will be a 4k down the line but I'd be happy with this for the time being if not too expensive and not through zavvi.

It's not exclusive to Zavvi. It's available from Amazon UK and HMV as well.

All sites are £30.00 and available to pre-order now.

Release date is October 3rd.

Zavvi usually make it very clear when they have an exclusive release and they haven't with this one.

Thanks. I hadn't seen it listed anywhere else when I posted.

Hmm yeah, don't think that bodes well for a 4K set this year if they're bothering to release this in October.

Shame, that's a really nice set. Maybe best for my wallet though. I just know if they did 4K releases in this style for the whole series they'd have me by the balls.

I think you're right. If this was a 4K release I would have ordered it already! I think I'm going to pass. I'd love a full set of James Bond 4K steelbooks.

It's the 70th year anniversary of the 1st book being released next year, maybe they could use that as an excuse to release a full set then instead?

Maybe they will do a 4K later this year but not as a separate release.

This looks shocking:

#1 - Can't release Bond steelbook without doing the whole lot (yes I know there's a fair bit)

#2 - Diabolical artwork. Black steelbook with red circles, WTAF!
Steel should have had that poster art. Classic vintage design.

Its a nice looking set, and if it was a 4K or more special features than the existing Blu-Ray, I probably would have picked it up. As it is, I don't think I can justify paying £30 for a disc I already own.

I really like the art work! You might already know, but the artwork is from the opening credits/title sequence.

Youtube Dr No Opening
Yeah I get it, but being an anniversary edition, you'd think they'd go with the vintage artwork.

This design shoulod have been part of the 'opening sequence' wave that was released a number of years back.

As part of that wave, it would have made sense.
As an anniversary release, looks a tad bit tacky in my opinion.

Looks like it’s designed to match these, which feature artwork from the title sequences. Which is surprising as they’re about 7 years old, but I’m glad to see them start up again.

It does look lovely, but I dunno, I'm really trying to cut back on rebuying shit purely for added tat. It already took all my self-control in cancelling the Steelbooks for the Burton Batflicks. Had this been a UHD, it would've been a day one.

I would prefer if there is just a Steelbook version, without the tat. I do not have 4k so I do not worry about that, just want to complete my Bond steel collection!!!

The 4Ks for all films are long overdue, particularly the Connery classics but that's MGM/FOX for you.
If I were to hazard a guess I'd say they're due by Nov/Dec this year in time for Christmas, particularly as they're now showing in cinemas with an end-run date in early autumn - but who knows?
The studio[s] concerned are soooo difficult that it's anyone's guess when - even if - these will ever see the light of day.

The Bond blus looked dated in 2012, let alone 2022. 4K releases have to be forthcoming at some point.
