Default Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - Netflix

I couldn't find a thread for this show at all when searching, so apologies if posted but just binge watched the entire thing. Thought it was AMAZING!

Yes, it does have slight flaws to it, but given the length of the episodes to the amount of content they packed in. A pure masterclass imo of how to make use of time properly. The story was always heading in a very set direction i feel once you got to a certain point but there's almost no real weak points to the show i could say made me dislike it. The characters were overall engaging and it really fit together with the choice of music too unlike a lot of other Netflix shows previously.

Thought this was excellent as well. This thread should probably be in the "Anime" section though.

With the time skip, I would consider it to have not used time too well. Felt rushed IMO, had nice paced world building but then suddenly it did a skip and was sprinting to the finish.

Nice usage of surround sound, and I agree the music was more thought out than usual. Definitely appreciated the increased animation budget for this one, and that the ladies in this look 100x better than any in Cyberpunk 2077 the game.

It felt like a Cyberpunk take on Scarface. I enjoyed my time with it.

Do you need to have played the game to enjoy this?

I'm a sucker for Cyberpunk stuff and thinking of starting this.

Yeah, i think the time skip may jar a few people, but i don't think there's a logical way to show a character getting bigger etc. during a normal runtime. It's akin to most anime tropes like Naruto to the Shippuden sequel showing him as more grown up and all the rest. Similar to Dragonball to Dragonball Z/Kai. It just kinda made sense in terms of the story to skip a bit but i do agree that you maybe lose a little bit of background on what David got up to building his reputation and also, i think because of the episode runtimes maybe they were pressed on not being able to fully flesh out why he still ends up going down the route he does. I don't want to spoil it, but i think you'll understand what i mean from just before and just after the time skip.

There's also a few other things i think were a bit weird, but overall i did really love it. 9.5/10 from me on first watch

I have no complaints except wanting more. The whole show was glorious.

No, but if you have, you'll see some awesome references from it. Also,
[Show spoiler]the show takes place one year before V's story.

I've seen quite a few people say good things about this show so I watched it. While overall it's great show there was one thing that really irked me about it. The repetition/wasting screen time. It's like they had enough story to last maybe 30 minutes but found ways to add filler to each episode just to hit some runtime number. The biggest annoyance was everyone repeating themselves. It just felt awkward and not organic because it happened so often. Other than that - I really enjoyed it. Fits very nicely with the already established narrative from the game.

I've seen copies of this on eBay but they seem to be rips (no HD tracks). Any updates on when we're getting the official blu-ray release this year?

Still no word on a release date beyond the initial announcement, AFAIK.

I'm really looking forward to this one, so fingers crossed that it's still in the works.

considering the recent announcement of a greek physical release (that also didn't have a timeframe or anything other than the same "coming in 2025" promo art) they might be having some specific time scheduled for worldwide announcements. the greek announcement at least gives me hope it's not abandoned

This set should be up for pre-order today, but I'm not seeing it anywhere (Aniplex USA, Amazon, etc.). If anyone comes across a link, please do share it.

Placed my pre-order!

For the curious, order total was around $131 after taxes (shipping was free).

I hate how expensive Aniplex sells their stuff. Been put off from their SAO Blurays due to the insane pricing.

Despite that, I adore the series and I am thinking about the jump.

Pre-ordered! This show fits the universe and the 2077 game like a glove. I had played the game 2-3 times fully by the time the series and I actually recognized a TON of locations used from the game. I actually new where everyone was in the city!
