Canadian Blu-ray Release Dates? - Blu-ray Forum

The Canadian release date for 2001: A Space Odessey is not the same as it is in the U.S. It was supposed to have been January 29, 2008 here in Canada, but now no one has a clue when the release date will be. I'm wondering if anyone out there has any updated information on this. Thanks.

Futureshop lists it as in stock and shipping. If you can't find it here in Canada, order it from Amazon.com. No duty if you get the standard shipping option.

Thanks for your comments, however Future Shop's inventory computer has none in-stock in the Edmonton area where I live. I hate to give money online especially if the product is doubtful on availability.

...i gave up checking for the umpteenth time trying to find it at a local BB or FS. I ordered it from thecnl.com in burnaby BC...they had stock long before the 29th & had both the US jacket version & the bi-lingual version....bought the US version....the disc itself was around 25-26 bucks.....fwiw.

Release dates are the same on 99% of titles the other 1% is a local studio picking up the titles (aka Cristal Films or TVA Films) and releasing them a few weeks later. Usually those titles are not for the mass' anyways.

As far as 2001 is concerned, I saw it yesterday at a local movie shop hence it's definitly here.

I live in Toronto and I order all of my movies from the US.
I order from Amazon.com or hdmoviesource.com
hdmoviesource shipping to me costs 5$ for every 75$ in the order(+ they have coupons for additional 4-8% off).
I recommend ordering from the states. BB and FS have horrible prices.

Thanks cordillius. I'll probably have to go the route you use to get at least some of the hard-to-find Blu-ray titles.

i checked out hdmoviesource and there prices are just as bad as bb and futurehop, terrible. im going to wal-mart.
