Apparently this is the censored version of the film, with the shot of Lilo hiding in the dryer replaced with her hiding in a shelf with a pizza box as a door.

iTunes digital is still the original version with the dryer. Hmmm. So if you got the old Blu-ray then you’re fine and if you have the digital then you’re fine too. But new pressings are the UK cut… hmmm…

It does though you'll notice in this shot it still shows the original dryer.

By editing that one shot, and not others, they in turn created a continuity error. It's just like how the Blu-Ray of A New Hope added rocks in front of R2 hiding, but didn't bother adding them for some other shots.

I watched Lilo and Stitch 2 for the first time and thought it was quite decent for a DTV. It might help that the original was unambitious, so it doesn't feel like we're getting a cheap lower stake continuation to an epic like The Lion King or The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I mean...it's clear that the retail version is the same as the DMC release.

Your only hope is if Disney gives us a 4K/Blu-ray combo with a 4K remaster and THAT has the original scene uncensored.

Either that or buy the original 2013 Blu-ray/DVD combo.

I compared this release of Lilo and Stitch to the 2017 release (which I am 99% sure is the exact same as the 2013 release), and the newer release is far superior when it comes to compression. 38Mb/s vs 30Mb/s. I also compared the two frame by frame (in Davinci Resolve)--the earlier release has a lot of ringing artifacts around lines while the newer release does not. Additionally, macroblocking is decreased (I especially noticed the macroblocking on the old release in the skin tones of the character Bubbles).

If you can live with the dryer/pizza edit, then this is easily the one to get. I much prefer a blu-ray with better encoding.

Could I please have screenshots that show the differences? It's hard for me to tell when I have to constantly switch between discs.

Not surprising, considering the 2013/2017 disc is two movies on a 50GB disc whereas this release has the 2 movies on their own disc (50GB and 25GB respectively).

Your only hope is if Disney gives us a 4K/Blu-ray combo with a 4K remaster and THAT has the original scene uncensored. Either that or buy the original 2013 Blu-ray/DVD combo.

RWZMJL Active Member Member since:Feb 2014 4K collection:221 Blu-ray collection:1168 DVD collection:55	I compared this release of Lilo and Stitch to the 2017 release (which I am 99% sure is the exact same as the 2013 release), and the newer release is far superior when it comes to compression. 38Mb/s vs 30Mb/s. I also compared the two frame by frame (in Davinci Resolve)--the earlier release has a lot of ringing artifacts around lines while the newer release does not. Additionally, macroblocking is decreased (I especially noticed the macroblocking on the old release in the skin tones of the character Bubbles). If you can live with the dryer/pizza edit, then this is easily the one to get. I much prefer a blu-ray with better encoding.
