Default If you loved Con Air or The Rock, you will LOVE Crimson Tide...

Crimson Tide easily has as good or better PQ and AQ than Con Air or The Rock. It's on the same level as those 2 excellent catalog titles. Don't hesitate, buy this title today!!

I'm seriously considering getting this in the next couple of days, I love Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington, and I loved the Hunt For Red October. How does it compare to that movie?

Crimson Tide, in my humble opinon, stands out somewhat more than its near equal the Hunt for Red October. Now if Harrison Ford had played Jack Ryan in that it would of been enough to push October past Tide. The conflict between Hackman and Washington in Crimson is so tense you just feel it in your gut. I would give Crimson 4 1/2 stars and October 4, they are that close.

Just watched The Rock last night for the first time and I was wowed with the picture. Will be getting to Con Air tonight and I'm sure I won't be disappointed. If Crimson Tide is as good then its a homerun.

I've never seen this. It looks like it may be a blind buy for me.

Some are definitely. I noticed something at the very end when the camera zooms into Jason Robards face. The camera was focused on his yellow/gold decorations on his shoulder. This is something we probably never noticed before watching the VHS/DVD versions but it's very clear here. Instead of the camera focusing on his face, it focused on his shoulder. Obviously that's not due to any part of the remastering of the movie to Blu but because it's in HD now, it's very noticeable.

Go check it out and see if you concur...

yeah the stripes are in higher detail than his face, this (Tide) has been given a high PQ rating I would knock it down a little, con air looks much better but tide still looks very good

Exactly my feeling. Overall great PQ though, but The Rock is still better. Then again, The Rock, Con Air and Crimson Tide are all great PQ(older catalog titles) compared to a new release like Jesse James from Warner. Warner needs to man up and start producing like these other studios. "Good enough" may work for HD DVD, but not Blu!

It's probably the second-most addictive submarine movie ever made (behind Hunt and just ahead of Das Boot, with K-19:the Widowmaker trailing distantly behind), and seems to have been made with "Red October" very much in mind--

Not to mention another great post-"Unforgiven" Gene Hackman role, and a Denzel Washington vanity-hero role where he actually comes off as likable...
To use "Con Air" and "The Rock" in the same sentence as this movie is to do it an injustice.

I'm just waiting on a day I can drive up to Best Buy to grab Crimson tide.

I may get Jesse James too since no one where I live has it to rent on Blu-ray or DVD.

I though The Rock had the best PQ between it and Con Air..The Rock was just sharper and a little more detailed.

$5.99 on Amazon right now. Went ahead and ordered. I know I've seen it on TV back in the day but I can't remember anything other than Viggo Mortensen showing up in it.

Solid film. One of my favorites.

The world is a lesser place without Tony Scott making films.

Man I love this movie ever since seeing it in the theater 22 years ago. Gene Hackman is such a prescence in this one. Just picked it out of the walmart blu bin today. “I’m the commander of this ship now give me the $&@%# missle key!”
