Paramount The Great - Season One and Two

Paramont will be releasing the first two seasons of the satirical television series The Great, which stars Elle Fanning, and Nicholas Hoult, on January 31st, via their MOD distribution. The popular show has been renewed for a third season.

Quote:
The Great: Season One is a satirical, comedic drama about the rise Catherine the Great (Elle Fanning). From creator and Academy Award Nominated writer, Tony McNamara, comes a fictionalized, fun and anachronistic story of an idealistic, romantic young girl who honors an arranged marriage to the mercurial Russian Emperor Peter (Nicholas Hoult). Instead of love and sunshine, she finds a dangerous, depraved and backward world. Catherine becomes driven to change Russia and fulfill her destiny.
Quote:
Special Features:
  • Bold and the Brash: Inside The Great
  • Palatial Panache: The Style of The Great
  • Gag Reel

Quote:
The Great returns in Season Two from Golden Globe and Academy Award nominee Tony McNamara (The Favourite). Catherine takes the throne for her own--but if she thought coup-ing her husband was difficult, it's nothing compared to the realities of liberating a Russia that doesn't want to be. She'll battle her court, her team, even her own mother to bring the Enlightenment to Russia. Two-time Emmy Award-winning actor Gillian Anderson joins stars Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult for all the fun!

Special Features: Blooper Reel; Deleted Scenes

I bet this is only pressed because Australia had it pressed for almost 2 years. They don't have season 2 yet though.

If the information about each season having three discs is accurate, it should hopefully be a nice little upgrade from the 2-disc Australian Bluray in the bitrate department.

Was it actually in stock? MOD titles are notorious for saying in stock and not actually being in stock or taking weeks to be available after release date unless you pre-order basically right when they're announced.

Season 2 is 20% off for a Prime Day deal, so about $23. Considering grabbing it and 1 for the same price since I assume the chances of them popping up cheaper are slim...

The opposite of huzzah.

I guess 1 and 2 didn't sell well, but that still sucks. It was one season, put it on BD. Or stop making 1-2 and make a complete series instead.

Makes sense. I just got the first season and was looking forward to having the whole series on blu. My fault for getting my hopes up.

In Canada we can't even watch the third season in HD anywhere! I'm still waiting to watch it. Seasons 1 and 2 were awesome, but Amazon Prime has season 3 listed, but not watchable.

They didn’t even give the first 2 seasons a CHANCE to sell before deciding to downgrade season 3 to dvd only. The first two seasons released on blu in early 2023 prior to the third season “airing” on Hulu, and the SAME YEAR, only 9 months later, they released the dvd of season 3. They only gave these MONTHS to sell, with the blu releases MOD, so only sold online, not sold in stores like the dvd releases were, which means only those actively looking and caring would have even known these existed on blu to begin with! Really FRUSTRATING and STUPID release strategy by Paramount for discs whose “failure to sell” almost feels intentional.

That's me done then.

I don't usually buy TV shows on physical but this one peaked my interest when I saw the reviews on this site. Sounds like a show I'd like.

But if the last season isn't on blu-ray, I won't even start this journey.

Shame.

Agreed, stupid Paramount being stupid again. Nothing new. Especially with this being a MOD release.

Also, this sites review has nothing but positives for the PQ, yet marks it down to 4/5 with no reason given.

Make it all make sense !
