When Bob's tire blows out during the race and he crashes does he now get out and yell "Maclunkey"?

Been hoping for this one! Figured it might be coming this year for its 50th anniversary.

I've been expecting this from Universal. I think Love Actually is another movie celebrating an anniversary this year that will get a 4K UHD release this year from Universal. I'd also like to see a 4K UHD of Lost In Translation but that's probably a little iffy because it is not as popular as the other two.

I know it has little chance of happening but the inclusion of the 1973 version of American Graffiti would be nice. I and others discuss it in detail in the thread in the blu-ray forum:

This movie is in need of a remaster and I'm sure it'll look lovely with HDR, but keep in mind this is a 2-perf Techniscope feature. It doesn't have 4k worth of resolution.

Never bought the blu-ray, so this is perfect for me to buy the 'Happy Days' movie in 4K.

Seemed like a no brainer from Universal. Only potential hold up being George Lucas who doesn't seem to be very involved with his films anymore. Curious to see how the 4K transfer turns out given Lucas's preference for a cleaner, digital look with other video releases. I wonder if he was even involved, but I imagine so. The current Blu-ray has that early Universal HD look.

True, but the extant transfer isn’t amazing so if this is done right it’ll look a lot betterer

I’m sure it’ll look great unless Lucas wants DNR.

Instead of using the entire 35mm frame (4 perf) to get a widescreen image, they used only half of the available frame (2 perf). "Perf" refers to the number of perforations in 35mm for each frame.

One of my favorite movies of all time, and this will be Day 1. That old 2012 Universal Blu-ray is really showing its age.

If 16mm films from the same era like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes can look good on 4K, so can this. Actually the extra grain would give it a nice period look. Unfortunately it would look pretty awful if Lucas pulls a James Cameron and DNRs it like what he did with the Star Wars films.

I'm usually gung-ho for theatrical cuts but this movie has existed with Harrison singing "Some Enchanted Evening" and Toad getting the high pressure sales treatment for so long that I really don't want to lose that stuff. (If they include both versions, that's ideal of course, but I doubt they'll go that way.)

Having said that, they really need to shitcan that CGI skyline that was added for the opening shot of the DVD.

16mm can, at best, give us about 1,75k.

Holy moly! I know others have, but I did not expect this one. I figured the music licensing rights would keep this one a pipe dream for a new 4k physical. Freaking awesome news!
