Synopsis
her Williams and Fernando Lamas star in this musical, romantic aquacade -- Williams as a girl from Arkansas who has vowed to swim the English Channel to raise the money to save her family farm; and Lamas as the rich man who wins her heart and almost blocks her from reaching her goal . . . but who comes to realize that the woman of his dreams is Dangerous When Wet. Featuring a delightful original music score written by Johnny Mercer and Arthur Schwartz, the film is best remembered for Esther's famous swim with M-G-M's beloved animated characters Tom & Jerry.

I've an enduring fondness for Esther Williams and her musicals. This one I'd rate as her best - bar none. Entertaining and endearing. The lady herself's in peak form on all levels. And the picture boasts a great supporting cast, catchy songs, sharp, funny script - plus a genuinely tense and exciting climax involving an English Channel swim.

I'll also be grabbing "Caged" and "Land of the Pharaohs". Thanks to Warner Archive for making June 2023 a marvel of a month.

Have never seen this, but may need to check it out based on your recommendation. My favorite overall is Bathing Beauty (hoping to see that Blu-ray from WAC eventually), but the Million Dollar Mermaid water sequences are probably the most glamorous.
