Default Zoom Coming To Sony BRAVIA TVs

Video conferencing on a big screen is a nice feature. Of course the camera can be disabled for people that want privacy and not interested in video conferencing.

"Sony Electronics has announced that Zoom Video Communications will be coming to BRAVIA TVs, compatible with BRAVIA CAM. This partnership will allow users to connect with friends, family, and colleagues for video calls and meetings from the comfort of their living room. Sony’s BRAVIA is the first TV brand to support the Zoom for TV app on Google Play Store."

"Zoom-compatible BRAVIA TVs include X95L, X93L, A80L, X90L, X85L, X80L, X75L, Z9K, A95K, X95K, A90K, A80K, A75K, X90K, X90S, X85K, X80K."

"With Zoom on BRAVIA TVs, you can now communicate through the big screen with the BRAVIA CAM. This includes video communication, screen sharing, and collaboration tools that can be accessed in three simple steps: attach the BRAVIA CAM to your TV, install the Zoom application, and launch with the TV’s remote."

No way I'll connect a device with a mic and camera to the internet and place it in my living room 24x7. If I need to zoom, I'll use a PC.

(Yes. I have a modern cell phone. That stays in the den when I'm home. )

I know I'm in an increasing minority of those who feel this way (or even bother to think about the implications), but it is what it is.

I'm guessing TV manufacturers are looking for ways to differentiate themselves from gaming monitors.

Sony's BRAVIA-Cam has a very easy access power switch on the top center of the camera.

You only turn the camera and mic on when you are using one of the video conferencing services.

Simple to make a light go on/off with a switch. Easy to coordinate software control over camera power and function with obvious power switch to enhance the illusion.

Not so easy to verify power is solely under control of user. Pass.

Some 4K or HD cameras are built in the Smart TV, others are unpluggable with a USB cable. If the TV is in like a master bedroom or another bedroom just unplug the USB cable from the Sony TV and that solves the issue. Plug the USB cable back in when one wants to use Zoom. Technology can be used for good and bad purposes. Consumers have full control with the video conferencing applications, especially when the USB cable can be plugged in or pulled out if one does not trust the on and off switch on the camera or disabled in software.

Zoom is ideal for video conferencing in a board meeting for a company or when attending some online collage classes with the instructor in the middle and students live video and audio on the other windows in zoom. If not already being done I am sure some adult HD cable TV channels or adult 4K streaming channels are most likely using or wanting to use zoom for married couples’ night where everyone gets together on zoom.

This is excellent news! Having Zoom on BRAVIA TVs opens up new possibilities for seamless video conferencing and collaboration right from the comfort of our living rooms. With the added benefit of disabling the camera for those who prioritize privacy, it's a remarkable feature for staying connected with friends, family, and colleagues. Can't wait to try it out on my X95L!
