The one that I go to is slowing HD media progression by not allowing them to be covered under the MVP plan which they used to be, and are charging 8+ dollars for a rental. So I really don't care.

I've been only renting movies I'm dying to see, on DVD and watching seasons of TV shows I've never got around to getting into. Right now I'm on season 2 of The Shield.

Probably after they figure out which stores will be left open, due to the Movie Gallery bankruptsy. They're due to close down another 400 stores over the next few months.

It is not known if there will be another wave of closings.

Hollywood Video is really close to announcing bankruptcy. I don't even have any close to me any more since they have all closed (4 in my area). Which sucks because they had Blu to rent before anyone else.

My 2 Hollywood videos closed in October. (wow has it been that long?) They were the SHITTIEST video stores ever. Their last new release in October was a new release at the end of August. The latest game system they rented games for was for regular xbox. So I was glad to get 35 SD movies for 11 dollars

They have already filled for bankruptcy and are trying to emerge from it. The closing of about 800 stores was part of their reorganization strategy. Although I doubt they will be able to truly turn it around without dropping out of the large markets, where netflix and blockbuster have domain. Movie Gallery should have never bought Hollywood Video, at least not for $1.1 billion.

The Hollywood i go to has blu-ray and HD-dud both on the MVP plan. good selection as there are not that much early adapters in my area. I was running blockbuster online but it seems like they raise their prices every three months by 10 dollars and always have queue problems.

Lackluster -pay more, expect less.

Hollywood Video in my town has both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD discs for rent (but a noticeably larger selection of BDs).

Unfortunately, the size of that selection is not very large. They often don't offer a lot of the newest releases either. For example, they didn't have Gone Baby Gone available to rent. Hastings Books, Music & Video down the street did.

Just like when DVD was first released, Hastings was first in my town start offering Blu-Ray discs to rent. They also offer some HD-DVD movies for rent as well. But the BD selection is 3 times larger -and larger than the selection of any competing video store in town.

Pricing in my town is typically $4.99 to rent a BD movie. Blockbuster lets you keep it for 2 days (you pick and choose from a very small collection of discs). Hollywood lets you keep it for 5 days. Hastings lets you have it for a week.

Hollywood Video is going out of business. All stores in my area have been liquidated and are closed.

Hollywood Video cannot help the dud's. hehe
