Metro Goldwyn Mayer Tank Girl (1995)

I don't often associate guilt with consuming entertainment of any kind, but in this case I do. The movie itself is a campy action adventure set in a post-apoc desert of an undefined land, brimming with the 90's brand of anti-establishment ethos. Sort of like a mid-nineties version of Road Warrior as a comedy that begins with a title sequence idea lifted from Flash Gordon, with an evil corporation and manimal mutants thrown in the mix. Also Malcolm McDowell and Iggy Pop. This all you TG enjoyers already know, but you may not know about the studio meddling that watered down the rather anarchistic source materials, possibly including the original script even, to make it more accessible for younger audiences. The attempts at skirting censorship and getting sh*t past the radar are obvious in this, but sometimes they succeed surprisingly well and you have to give them credit for at least trying.

Being familiar with the comics, my attitude towards this movie is... complicated. Still, I can put those feelings aside and enjoy it as it is. This is why I would absolutely purchase it in 4K if it got such a release... of any kind. The previous blu rays are no longer an alternative, unless one submits to scalpers' prices or accepts a used copy.
