I am thinking of buying a used PS for the exclusive purpose of playing blu-rays. I believe that I read that they are region free. Is that correct? Any caveats to using a PS as just a blu-ray player?

Thoughts?

Pretty sure PS3/4/5 are all Region 1 for DVD and Region A for Blu-ray if purchased in North America. 4k Ultra Blu-rays have no Region coding.

For the same price or less you can get a much better disk player. Check out the Panasonic UB820, it’s considered the holy grail of UHD players.
