Default 2024 Wishlists thread (DVD titles)

First of all, before I get spoken down to, if this DVD wishlist titles thread should be in the Wish Lists sub-forum, then I can easily have it moved there (but as that sub-forum is for Blu-ray wishlist titles, this thread being in DVD Movies seems more apt/suitable).

Below is the link to fellow member Nailwraps' thread for Blu-ray wishlist titles which hasn't long been started:

Default TV series

The television series I can think of at the moment that I would like/hope to see get at least DVD releases next year:

Shout! Factory, WB Entertainment or the Warner Archive Collection:

- Bare Essence (short-lived eighties soap opera/drama series (preceded by a feature-length pilot)
- The Blue Knight (two season series starring George Kennedy)
- Flamingo Road (short-lived eighties soap opera/drama series (two seasons)
- Freddy's Nightmares (two season series)
- Heartbeat (late-eighties medical drama series)
- Hothouse (short-lived drama series from the late-eighties)
- Our Family Honor (short-lived eighties drama series (the pilot was released on DVD by the WAC)

Shout! Factory or Via Vision:

- Sarge (short-lived detective drama series about a priest played by George Kennedy (one season series, preceded by a pilot TV film and an Ironside crossover TV film called "The Priest Killer")

- Amy Prentiss (very short-lived detective drama series starring Jessica Walter in the lead role (spun-off from a feature-length episode of Ironside)

- The Eddie Capra Mysteries (murder mystery/detective drama series whose cast included Vincent Baggetta and Wendy Phillips)

- Whiz Kids (short-lived Simon & Simon spin-off. Jameson Parker made a crossover appearance on it, and the cast of the spin-off appeared in an episode of Simon & Simon).

[QUOTE=Nailwraps;21679097]Here's my wishlist (and I'm going how OceanBlue did his):

Criterion:
-The Iron Giant

------------------------

Here's a short story about "The Iron Giant" . . .

About 6 months ago I was looking for a W/S Warner tape of a particular movie and I typed "WARNER WIDESCREEN" into eBay's 'Search' line . . . and an IRON GIANT W/S VHS popped up in the eBay listings. It was in a skinny white clamshell case with insert artwork and this particular tape looked as new. Like no one ever played it. Wasn't expensive, either. So I did the "impulse buy" thing and picked up the W/S release of IRON GIANT.

WARNER apparently didn't expect to sell many because despite the fact there's a ▬rectangular-shaped▬ notice on the back of the sleeve that states IRON GIANT is presented in its 2.35:1 "scope" aspect ratio as it was seen in theaters Warner also left the crawl on the sleeve that says "This Film Has Been Modified As Follows From Its Original Version: It Has Been Formatted To Fit This Screen."

I'm thinking WARNER decided to save the expense of deleting the formatting 'crawl' on the bottom of the sleeve art and instead just print the W/S notice above the crawl. My thought was that it would cost more to print unique WIDESCREEN sleeves than it would to just add the W/S notice to the existing 'Fullscreen' sleeve because Warner didn't believe they'd sell a lot of them. And they didn't, but I've got one. And I hadn't even planned on getting it but there it was . . . waiting for a new home.

----------------------------------

I'd like to see these movies on DVD:

BANNING (1967)
DON'T JUST STAND THERE! (1968)
JIGSAW (1968)
KING'S PIRATE, The (1967)
NOBODY'S PERFECT (1968)
DID YOU HEAR THE ONE ABOUT THE TRAVELING SALESLADY? (1968-Comedy)
MAN CALLED GANNON, A (1969-Western)
COCKEYED COWBOYS OF CALICO COUNTY, The (1970-Comedy)
RED SKY AT MORNING (1971-Coming Of Age Drama)
LIMBO (1972)

It would be nice for a last minute save of WWE DVDs. As it stands, at the end of 2023 all WWE home video releases will stop.

I'm not sure who owns it, and I'd love either a Bluray or DVD copy, but I'd love to see The Thief Who Came To Dinner get released someway.

Default Dinner Rush (2000)

I registered just to start a thread but learned I couldn't as a new user, so replying here. Dinner Rush is the only movie in my collection that I'm still chomping at the bit to upgrade to HD. What a great movie it was! It has a 91%/85% score on Rotten Tomatoes for Pete's sake! It's been 24 years and was an independent release that made less than $1M, so the chances of it ever being remastered to HD is all but non-existent. What a shame.

Honestly it's hard for me to figure out who owns what but I do know some of them are owned by 20th Century Fox, Disney, and Warner Bros.

Disney
Titan A.E.
The Small One
Tex gosh Dang it Disney owns this urghhhhhh
Mr. 3000
A Low Down Dirty Shame
Dead Presidents I think this goes for all Hollywood Pictures films
Bound by Honor
Moonlight Mile

Warner Bros
Carny
Oxford Blues
Dead Bang
Moving
Greased Lightnin
Stand and Deliver
Thunder heart
Deal of the Century
Krush Groove
Disorderlies
Guilty by Suspicion

MGM
Fluke
The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh
Turbulence

Sony
Brother John
Blank man
Ghosts of Mississippi
Get on the Bus

Fox
Without a Trace 1983
Blood and Wine
Gordon's War
How Stella Got Her Groove Back

Paramount
Heartburn

Miramax
Rage in Harlem
Night watch

Shout Factory! Kids I think Shout Factory should release these films on Blu Ray like they did with the Last Unicorn and the Laika Stop motion animated films
Annabelles Wish
Fluke
Help I'm a Fish
The Hobbit animated
The Lord of the rings animated
Adventures of the American Rabbit

Deaf Crocodile should release these on Blu Ray obviously they already plan on releasing Felidae this year on Blu Ray so that leaves these ones.
Jungledyret franchise all of the films
Tamala 2010 a Punk Cat In Space
Cat Soup
Tree of Palme
Hugo the Hippo

BMS
Sleuth

Yeah this is my wish list besides a number of anime shows and a films I want on Blu Ray and also be able to own them physically.

I'll probably re-edit this and include the other studios on here and the movies they own. Along with the movies I forgot to add for certain studios and Dead studios too.

I would love a DVD (or Blu) of Amityville 3-D under the alternate title Amityville III: The Demon that was used for Pay TV like HBO.

HBO Title Screen

Here are the video clips of the 3 different Amityville 3-D opening Credits:

To save starting a new thread, am posting in this one that was started in late-November last year. I'll begin with the hope that Powerhouse Films/Indicator, Terror Vision and Whole Grain Pictures venture into older television series next year (am very happy with the TV series Classicflix have announced that they have in the works (Lock Up and The Unexpected). Now to the short-ish wishlist (focused solely on television series):

Non-Warner Brothers series:

Beyond Reality (Mill Creek only released the first season, and that is out-of-print by the looks of it now)

Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction (including an English language physical media release of the fifth season, and an interview with James Brolin and Jonathan Frakes)

Unsolved Mysteries (a big ask this, what with the number of seasons and editions/episodes per season in the original series)

Warner Brothers-owned series:

The Blue Knight (the two season series (neither season was full-length) starring George Kennedy)

The Eleventh Hour: Season Two (the two season series that existed in the same universe as Dr. Kildare (of what I've seen of the first seaon DVD release, the episodes weren't remastered, but it's a fascinating-sounding series and it baffles me why we haven't seen the final season (did Season 1 sell poorly for the WAC? Clearance/copyright/music/rights issues? Elements can't be found for the episodes?)

Head of the Class: Season Five (the elusive final season where Sir Billy Connolly replaced Howard Hesseman (also, the short-lived spin-off Billy)

Mr. Novak: Season Two (the last I read on here, was it's down to one music track, why we have yet to see the second and final season from the WAC).

Last edited by OceanBlue; 08-09-2025 at 10:19 PM. Reason: Removed TV series Sarge from wishlist post (already in post #2 of this thread).

- My Sister Sam

Via Vision:

- The Royal (the Heartbeat spin-off (done like how Network did their DVD releases of Heartbeat, with ad bumpers and original closing logo(s).
