I really like the first two but after that it gets worse. This will not happen and stallone was not in the last one all that much.

If this actually happens, then it needs to go back to the original 2 films roots with glorious violence and get Carl Weathers, Steven Seagal, Jeff Speakman, Michael Dudikoff, Kurt Russell, Peter Weller and Jackie Chan, Pierce Brosnan and Nicholas Cage with a touch of Michael Caine as the handler!

As I said in the Ex4 thread, I'd be very, very shocked if this series continued anymore given the dismal reception. I'm a mark for trashy action so I still got a chuckle over the body count silliness but even though I'd still be there opening weekend for a 5, the series should be realistically put out to pasture.

I could see this happen if Stallone/Barney is no longer in the film and Christmas is leading the group on his own this time.

Maybe have Christmas go out and recruit his own batch of Expendables.

I mean that’s not that far from the plot of the 4th movie. After 3 already performed poorly and 4 was a total bomb (by far the worst in reviews, cinemascore, and box office) I just don’t see why anyone would make a 5th.

The ONLY reason to do this is to erase the absolute atrocity that was Expendables 4. Like Rocky V (not saying RV is nowhere near as bad). If he can go out on a high note, then I'll watch it.

Yes, and they can have Stallone be a consultant or something, a guide in the story/movie to help the team out.
The action in Ex4 was entertaining and lots of it, so there is no problem there. Just a matter of the story and giving each older action hero enough to do. Statham had the lead role, so I can see him becoming the main leader.

Expendable5?

I will say, I enjoyed the last one. It didn't feel like an Expendables movie though, and many of the sets felt like the terrible CGI sets from the show Once Upon a Time. But, as a Jason Statham action movie it felt just above average.

I'm sure I'll watch a 5th one.

Would like to see a finale where it gets back to the basics of 1&2. Not about new recruit's, but the old action stars. Bring Snipes back and Jet L. Even if it's a cameo. Get Cage in it maybe even some of the b movie action stars. Let Cage be the leader of the bad guys. Cruise would be a good one to if they could afford him. Try to go out with a bang like the first one felt.

This just bloomed after Dolph Lundgren said in an interview "I think Sly is working on another chapter", so it doesn't mean anything. Sly afaik is working on season 2 of Tulsa King and Cliffhanger 2 (allegedly)...

Probably right, Cliffhanger 2 but why. Lol, would rather see a Cobra 2.

Who’s there left to cast at this point? More importantly, will any studio commit to it after the fourth one apparently bombed catastrophically?
