Nah I wasn't disputing the content just the dimensions of the case. Looks a bit long but that YouTube video makes it clear that it's just a regular Blu Ray steelbook (in Germany at least).

Here's the German release unboxing of both. The UK releases will be the same, but of course, in English.

If you look at the HMV prices BEFORE 20% discount.
Mediabook = UHD of film + BD of film + BD of extras @ £35
Steelbook = UHD of film + BD of extras @ £28

Okay different packaging, but you save £8 ditching the BD of the film.

steelbook is the cheapest option on Amazon UK https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ronin-4K-UH...dp/B0CV4HJRY5/

I already have the Kino, and i prefer the standard case that comes with. I'm just wondering if the encode will be better or worse? I think they have a similar track record

Same. And I really dislike steelbooks while mediabooks are just an excuse to push the price up, as far as I'm concerned, and they take up a little more space on the shelf.

See my thoughts on the encode in the German 4K thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...51&postcount=8

The UK and German discs will be the same and are clear improvements over the Kino.

Indeed the grain is better on the Capelight disc. I was going to pick it up in Berlin in April but I put in a pre-order for the steel on Amazon. That will sit nicely with my Kino 4K, Arrow BD and a Region 5 DVD.

Thanks for the comments on the encode, that is good news. I'm not a fan of mediabooks or steelbooks. Are Capelight likely to release this in a normal case?

Maybe but that'll take a long time as their special editions sell well in Germany and are generally limited in name only. I wouldn't bet on it honestly.

I'd be interested to know if the reported subtitle translation errors from the Kino disc (and Arrow Blu-ray) are also carried over on the Capelight release. They're errors in so much as the ones for random signage are not actually meant to be there.

Useful reference from the Kino Ronin thread.

Unfortunately these subtitles are also present on the german UHD (in english as well as in german).

I usually disable these (if the disc let me, and on the Capelight disc you can) and watch it without, the few french parts i know/understand so its generally less distracting to watch.

As nicwood said, the encoding is just perfect, one of the best discs in my entire collection.

I do hope they got the bonus disc fixed until the UK release.

It won't run on certain Panasonic players, PS3 or PS5.
