They care for the doll as if it was human, which helps the couple to cope with the death of their own son 20 years earlier. When Greta violates a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring her worst fears to life, leading her to believe that the doll is alive.

I don't care. Not a great movie, but I still had tons of a fun with this one.

Cool twist too.

I'm totally down for this. Solid enough flick and I find it entertaining. I've already grabbed the German 4k uhd release for Brahms: The Boy II last year, so this is a welcome development for my horror uhd library.

I have to admit, I first jumped with excitement when I thought for a brief moment that this might be an announcement for The Boy (2015) ("Evil Always Begins Somewhere") 4k. Shout released it on blu back in the day. I bought it blind a few years ago, and found it to be a little-known gem. It's a potent jam, great flick. I'd love to see that make it to a 4k uhd release one day, too. Sorry for the minor derail but it shares the same name, and the two films released less than a year apart.

Got to admit i also got excited thinking it was the 2015 film. Especially as i am in the UK and the Shout release is the ony release and is region locked. From memory was a subtle film that has a disturbing impact. Would love to see a 4K release.

2016 huh.. COVID has really distorted my sense of time.

This would make a good Second Sight release!

I watched the BD back in 2017 or 2018, but there should be nicely dark scenes that HDR can potentially help. I will likely pick this up.

Wow, my 4k uhd already shipped yesterday from OrbitDVD. Plenty early again, by a full week. Orbit has really been killing it lately.

Screenshots

The color is definitely more vibrant. It's kinda odd the 4K version has those blurry horizontal lines on the top and bottom (near the edge of the frame, what is that called?) It's usually the DVD/BD that has that in screen comparisons, not the 4K.

Edit: For some reason the image server is messing up, there should be 38 images total.

Watched today. Still think it's a great spooky movie with a terrific payoff.

Enjoyed all the special features. Director William Brent Bell revealed a piece of hidden CGI that blew my mind, but it's a major spoiler.

[Show spoiler]Brahms' porcelain mask was actually a last minute CGI addition. All 150-250 shots.
