Blu-ray Samurai

![]() ![]() https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Bolero-Blu-ray/362746/ I didn't see a thread for this but it appears Bolero finally as a region A/Blu-ray release. I had my reservations if this was going to a MOD or a bootleg due to the price and it going in and out of stock constantly but it appears to be legit. I received my copy today and it has a pressed disc. The back of the release makes me question it a bit but hopefully it's legit. ![]() ![]() |

The back of the case says the running time is 98 minutes. The movie should run about 105 minutes. Is the back incorrect? When you play the movie on your new disc, what is the actual running time? |

I've seen that on a few releases but maybe that's just the nature of physical media where no one double-checks anything anymore. The artwork was probably cut-and-pasted from a DVD template in Adobe InDesign and carelessly thrown together as a Blu-ray cover.

I can only speak to Shout's 2016 release of Bolero and say that the PQ is quite good. I don't run specs or anything like that, but the audio is good as well. This movie takes a serious beating as a film, but if you accept it for the simple premise it offers, it's honestly a charming film. It's beautifully shot and there is no doubt that Bo Derek is at her prime and is absolutely stunning. It was intended to be an "erotic" comedy romance, and it definitely succeeds at that.
I have a soft spot for Bolero and for Bo Derek in general, and I always will. But from an objective standpoint, if you're even remotely interested in Bolero and don't already own it on Blu, grab it while you can because I kinda expect that MGM won't put much into the marketing or longevity of keeping this one around for long. The Shout Factory release of this is very good, but I'm going to order this MGM offering as well. Just because. Bo Derek. |
