I almost though "Oh shoot, are the Shout leaks coming early". Forgot it was coming from WB.

Really hoping we get the sequels, but I'm not optimistic.

I'm sure the sequels are imminent, an insider said they did a 4K transfer of Nightmare 3 recently so they're likely coming.

I still cannot believe we don't have artwork for this steelbook yet.

The big news (for me at least) is an actual US listing. This is the first one. Everything else has been international prior to that.

No standard. I'd prefer not to be stuck with a SB as the only option.

Definitely not purchasing until a Standard is available.

Oof. Thank God, I jumped on the UK version. I may eat these words, but I'm convinced it'll be the lesser of two evils...

This is exactly why I always preorder both US and EU versions until cover art is confirmed.

Hopefully you're right. Warner seems to have made a habit of giving the Brits the better steelbook option (see The Exorcist, Twister, etc). I'd be willing to pay extra for the best edition of one of my all-time, top-ten favorite horror movies!

I just pray none of them are this lazy:

Universal is behind the UK Twister release, not Warner.

New key art? Fine, whatever. But can we at least get the gotdam original title treatment? Either one is fine (the “NIGHTMARE” block or the arched “tattered” letters”)… I just despise that bland Trajan title used on every release since the infinifilm DVD.

It's almost guaranteed to suck because of the goofs that design stuff now.

All Warner had to do was license it out to someone that cares. But then we would get a good release that they themselves are unlikely to give.

WB gave me unfounded hope on future releases when the awful Purple Rain cover leaked, but later switched back to its (mostly) original art.

Well kind of a different situation here as Prince is a late legend that deserves to have nothing but the best. I'm sure the backlash they received from his fans on the first cover made them wet their pants and played it safe by using the original poster art.

The problem with Nightmare is they change the art with every single release that's vastly different. An insider claims that Robert Englund has expensive licensing rights for people to use his face/body on things hence why artwork is so generic or they use Freddy from the remake so often. However I can't see him denying WB for the 4K cover.

I do wonder if the Prince estate might have had a say in final approval for that one. And good on Robert, get that paper. The original Nightmare one-sheet is a core memory for me, arguably in my top ten favorite movie posters of all time.

It's definitely a classic but my beef with it is the model looks nothing like Nancy

Maybe that was a 1984 thing [see: Body Double].

If they used this one, they wouldn't have to pay Englund, would they, since it's definitely not his "likeness":

Not happening, I know, but I can dream...
