Great Scott film -- in Cinecolor! Looks decent on DVD but could use a full restoration.

What's taking Hollywood 18 years to bring good Randy Scott movies to Bluray except that attempt 3 years ago and this one 1 year ago? His movies were on Turner Classic Movies for 34 years. This movie saw 1 DVD release.

I've no idea why it's taken so long. Even an average Randolph Scott film is better than most of the stuff that passes for popcorn entertainment. DVDs from WB and Columbia have been most welcome but leave room for improved image quality.

I was under-impressed by the Mill Creek releases but they did have the merit of gathering scattered films together. What was Columbia/Sony thinking?

That Criterion Ranown release is remarkably outstanding -- the films look freshly minted -- they breathe!

I really wish Warner could get the rights to restore 7 Men from Now! I gather Paramount has some undefined distribution rights re 'The John Wayne Collection' that they released on DVD but never bothered to fully restore and upgrade to BD. 7 Men was released on BD in Japan some years back. I've read varying reviews re image quality. Criterion could do that one proud.

The Stranger Wore a Gun and Bounty Hunter are in need of full restoration and BD/3D releases.

The Walking Hills -- a gem of a film -- could use some TLC and a BD release.

Scott's career was long. He made some great -- and not so great -- films but he had great screen presence and veracity.
