Description:

Quote:
Celebrate the 45th Anniversary of STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE with this limited-edition Steelbook featuring the original theatrical cut in 4K Ultra HD, and a bonus remastered Blu-ray. This bold blockbuster launched one of the longest running movie franchises, reuniting the cast of the original STAR TREK series, including William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, and James Doohan. The adventure begins when an unidentified alien intruder destroys three powerful Klingon cruisers. Captain James T. Kirk returns to the helm of a newly transformed U.S.S. Enterprise to take command. As a bonus, an exclusive booklet boldly explores the original marketing materials and behind the scenes images from the Paramount archives.

The fact this doesn't include the directors version is equal parts bizarre and shady.

Perfect for me as I own them all individually and currently the only way to get the theatrical cut is to buy one of the boxsets.

If it had the special extended cut I might have gone for it.
I do have it in the 4K deluxe set, but that packaging sucks.

Star Trek is one of the few series I'll double dip on. Probably will just swap out the 4k for the Director's cut 4k. It should be a pass but......

Missed opportunity. I already own the director's cut 4K and that's my prefered version. Had they included both version in 4K i would have been all over this release. Oh well...

Would have been nice to include a slipcover of some kind to match the Search for Spock one.

But will there be another Walmart exclusive?
Also, RE: the decline of civilization and related declining SB build quality, opened my STIII only to find 3 quite long scratches on the back under the card.

Love the artwork on the steelbook. I wonder if each film will get a steelbook reissue like this one? I would be interested in all of them.

It is disappointing it doesn't include both cuts. I could always put the directors cut inside the steelbook, though.

My plan exactly. I'll give away the code and sell the disc. Paramount knows my weakness

There will be an eventual release containing all 3 versions of this film: theatrical, special longer, and new DC. After an appropriate milking of course. I've gotten too old now to concern myself with waiting on disc releases that I've been wanting for years. At this stage I'll just get the new DC cut on Vudu whenever it hits $5 again. It's showing on Pluto now if you don't mind the commercial breaks.

Love Star Trek too much to not get this even if I have the 4K. I am going to wait til it drops in price. Search for Spock steel is still available so no reason for me to jump on this right away.
