Preordered!

The rare show I'm not only cool with my kids watching on repeat, but I love it as well.

Never expected bluey to get a Blu-Ray, I guess it's time to retire my season 1/2 DVD now

Which speaking of, this will probably mean S1 will be presented in 108024fps. I know the show was produced at 1080i50, but I'm more used to the former. So long as the original (PAL) pitch is maintained, that's all that matters. I wouldn't throw away the S1 and 2 DVD yet because if you're an enthusiast who also wants the alternate US versions, you may want to hold on to it.

Any who, this news really came out of left field and I'm definitely going to get it (maybe for Christmas)!

Well, as the title character and her sister would often say, “Hooray!” I love this show and never expected it to get a Blu-ray anywhere, but here we are. Hopefully BBC releases it in the UK as well.

For real life?!

Instant pre-order! Although they've really missed a trick not calling it a bluey-ray collection

I'm sure some of the stuff like the unicorn poop and Dad Baby episode will still not be on it but as long as they keep them as bonus features that's almost as good.
The DVD releases of the show have the unedited Australian versions of the episodes, including Dad Baby. I'd expect it to be the same here.

Probably, but they put them separate as bonus features. I can understand the regional edits like changing capsicum to pepper, because I'm in my mid 30s and have never heard the word "capsicum" in my life... but some of the censoring makes no sense. So it'd be nice if they just put the originals and didn't bother with the edits (or put the edits as bonus features for anybody curious to see the differences), because I doubt a typical 5ish year old is going to request a Blu-ray over Disney+ or the DVD they can get their sticky hands on lol Blu-ray is obviously for the parent market.

The original DVD release of seasons 1/2 had the US-release edits as the 'main' versions with the Australian originals as bonus features, but the season 3 release doesn't bother with that and just has the Australian versions.
Based on the Amazon description for the Blu-ray set, it seems like that'll be the case here too:

It's so rare you see most current animated shows get a Blu-ray I never thought this'd happen. Day one!

I wonder if Australia will get the 1080i 50hz versions. If so, I will be double dipping on this. The speed difference really shows in the audio.

BBC only distributes internationally outside of Australia and New Zealand. So if it comes out in Australia, somebody else might have to release it.

And in this case, Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has the home video rights in Australia.

The rights seem to have reverted back to the BBC, with Madman Entertainment as the distributor, for Australia. They even re-released all the previous volumes.

The ABC only has first run, free-to-air and non-exclusive free streaming rights in Australia. BBC has always had rerun, paid tv, paid digital and physical disc rights. Plus they make all the money off the merch.
Massive fumble by the national broadcaster to let BBC take all the rights to what has become one of, if not our biggest entertainment export.

I'd be somewhat surprised if this didn't get a release in Australia, but I probably won't bother importing it if it doesn't.
