Carly Norris (Sharon Stone, Basic Instinct), a new resident of the chic, high-tech, and ultra-thin (like a sliver) Manhattan apartment building 113, is a divorcee looking for a good time. She finds that in her neighbor Zeke (William Baldwin, Backdraft), a wealthy video game designer-cum-playboy who harbors a dark secret which her other neighbor Jack (Tom Berenger, The Substitute) is all too willing to go into detail on. As Carly navigates her sexual tryst with Zeke and Jack's increasing paranoia, deaths in 113 begin to pile up as do revelations about the prior tenant in Carly's apartment, who died under mysterious circumstances.

I know many were hoping for Jade. I was hoping for Thief of Hearts (unrated).

But happy to support erotic thrillers being released in 4K as I enjoyed Sliver. Great soundtrack. Sharon Stone and Billy Baldwin at their hottest (even though they hated each other).

Haha, right on the money there Phil. Kinda crazy how lightning fast I ordered the limited edition considering this so-called erotic thriller's quality. The "erotic" sex scenes are laughably ridiculous and as a "thriller" it's a damp squib. Great setup and first half or so then goes right in the crapper by the end. A shame. (I remember at my screening one audience member shouting "Get a life?!" at the screen as the end credits rolled.) And yet . . . it's peak Stone and just so of its era. Nuff said.

Too bad about the original ending not being included among the extras but the real draw of this release for me is the Noyce interview. Figured he would've completely washed his hands of this debacle of a production but glad to see we can get his side of it 30 years on. And of course always a pleasure to hear from Eszterhas. The piece he did for Indicator's Jagged Edge SE was a hoot. (By the way the best account of Sliver's production I've seen is in Eszterhas' memoir "Hollywood Animal" which I HIGHLY recommend. As both a Hollywood expose and a personal history it's phenomenal. In fact I think I'll pull out my copy and re-read the Sliver section in advance of revisiting the movie.) Will also be interesting to see how Colleen Camp's looking these days as I think the last I saw her was in Die Hard With A Vengeance. Had forgotten she was in this.

Plus I'm in love with that limited edition packaging. Thank you, Vinegar Syndrome! With this, Goodbar and The Keep on the way I'm verr .

Watched this tonight. It's a really nice set and a must-have if you're a fan of the film.

The interview with Philip Noyce is 32 minutes and fascinating insight into making a Hollywood film with the biggest star and screenwriter at the time. Noyce is an endearing character himself.

The interview with Colleen Camp is a hoot, especially her impressions of Robert Evans.

It's one of those books where I'll pull it out to re-read a section then it ends up at my bedside for months as I slowly end up going through the entire thing. The last segment about his post-Hollywood cancer battle is harrowing stuff. Sure am glad he's still around to weigh in on his movies for releases like these. A little mellower but always tells it straight. By chance, just recently ordered VinSyn's Showgirls 4K so looking forward to that interview as well.
