Same here. I guess wiki's Shaw Brothers list isn't quite as comprehensive as I thought it was.

I've heard that The Black Tavern is one of the best Shaw films. Excited for this set.

hah, I was surprised to see this right after typing up my post. I guess me recognizing that one makes more sense if it's considered one of the better SB films.

I just randomly googled The Black Tavern as it sounded the most familiar and learned that Jackie Chan appears in the movie. Also found a video that breaks down his brief appearances with timestamps. Looks like a good film from what little I'm seeing of it.

(Be warned, possible spoilers in video including the video thumbnail)

Yeah, i've also only heard of the black tavern. I'm really surprised by Shout!'s choices for these last two sets, there are still some big titles left from Chang Cheh, Ti Lung, David Chiang, Chor Yuen, etc. and none of those are in either of these sets. Doesn't mean these are bad movies but I can't say i'm super excited. These sets are fairly expensive and they kind of need a few big titles among the lesser know ones to help convince people to shell out this much money.

I wonder who have these other titles? Can't see Arrow having any of them, seeing as they already announced that their fourth sets wouldn't be a martial art set. I could see Eureka having them, their last two little sets had some fairly big titles, they might have grabbed a bunch and are holding them for more smaller sets. Here's hoping!

I am REALLY hoping sets 3 has a bunch of Chor Yuen movies, at the very least!

This set goes to 1974. Most of the titles I recognize from Chor Yuen that aren't released on Blu-ray yet are after 1974. I'm assuming we get 2 more Shout sets if they're going in order like vol 1-4 did, so we'll probably see some more Chor Yen in vol 7&8.

Do these sets ever go on sale? I want to start getting these but there’s so many of them now and they’re not cheap.

They tend to drop a bit in price a few months after release. But by then there’s two more to get 😜

What is the Shaw Brothers remake of Coffy called and has anyone released that yet?

Would love to see that again. I had an import DVD years ago.

Amazon recently had a pretty significant coupon on one of the earlier sets.

I imagine they will pop up during upcoming Shout! sales, but their discounts aren’t usually that deep.

My current favorite place to order movies is Pop Market (formerly blowitoutahere) on eBay. Not sure if they have those sets, but I often find they are the best deal when buying 2+ movies.

Think it was The Sexy Killer from 1976. Don’t believe so yet.

Shout had a boxset sale in November where each Shaw set was 99.99. Probably the best deal to expect.

Check out Amazon right now. Some people have a 30% off for some shaw sets, both shout and arrow. Some only have it for shout, but it seems targeted and different people have them for different sets. You may get lucky and find it on a set you want.
