Ace Ventura: Pet Detective 4K UHD (1994) (Shout! Factory)

Shout! Factory will be releasing Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) on 4K in July! There should be a regular, as as well as a Steelbook release.

Note/ Warning: There are numerous reports that the 4K transfer is less colorful than previous transfers on past formats. There is a possibility this is an incorrect color space issue, as the included Blu-ray does not have this issue. You can see a comparison between the two formats here. I strongly suggest everyone contact SF about this, and let them know: info@shoutfactory.com

If you do pick up the disc, you can adjust yuor color settings to get the film to look a little more colorful. Not ideal, but it more or less addresses the issue.

As a kid growing up in the 90s with this VHS tape, I was shocked when this movie was released in HD in the US and the dolphin trainer scene was not in it. I had no idea the scene was not part of the theatrical cut.

Funny enough, I always assumed the "Contains footage not shown theatrically" label on the VHS and DVD was just a misprint - and that the 'extended' cut with the deleted scenes only ever aired occasionally on TV.

For me "Heinz Skitz Velvet" is the funniest scene in the movie! My brothers and I still quote it all the time.

The scene was cut from the theatrical release but was added back for the video release. I remember the Laserdisc had it but Blu-ray didn't get the scene added back in.

It's Shout Factory. We'll at best get one of the cuts in 4K with the other one relegated to 1080p.
