This is cool, and I'll likely grab it.

A shame that it lacks a 'Best of All Worlds' version of Mortal Kombat 3 tho.

I am ready to enter ABACABB and DULLARD!

I stopped gaming around 1995, a bit after MK 3 came out, and I only got back into gaming with the PS4 in 2015. I've never really had a chance to turn on a console and play these games, and the arcade version, since the 90's. Sure, I can emulate them through the PC and play it on the keyboard, but it's not the same for me.

I'm so happy that the Sega and SNES versions are included, they are as important as the arcade versions. As a former Sega 32X owner, I'm glad we're getting that version . No Sega CD version for MK 1, but there were too many loading screens on that version.

MK 4 is the only one feels slightly out of place, I never placed it in the same category as MK 1-3. But I randomly played that version on the N64 a few times.

It's pretty much universally considered a step down from 1-3, but they probably couldn't sell this collection if it didn't have one more game on offer. I also wonder if we're gonna get stuff like Special Forces or Sub-Zero as bonus games.

Given that the new film is being scheduled for an October release, I wouldn't be surprised if WB picks the same time for this as well. It would make a great tie-in, provided they can finalize everything by then. Otherwise, I'm guessing maybe Christmas.

Yea that's what I'm wondering about too, especially since they're including console games.

I'd like a version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy that's best of all worlds: All the characters, no load times, and Scorpion's Army of Clones fatality.

These can be found in quite a variety of kollections for the original Mortal Kombat games, so while it's nice to finally see MK1 included here, it's something I already own in other games.

The 3D polygon MK I think is more rare. MK4 I think it is. It's an okay entry into the franchise but the look of the fighters takes a hit IMO.

One thing I do wish MK series had? A way to just push back to block instead of an actual block button, which is klumsy to reach for during intense kombat.

The full list of content hasn't been revealed yet, but I think the PC version of Trilogy is the best one overall. No load times, 32 playable characters, and Shang Tsung's morphs. Unfortunately, a few of the first game's stages were omitted, including the Palace Gates, Warrior Shrine, and Throne Room. There's also a lot of musical issues, including the complete lack of any cues from the first game, and a lot of mismatching between the ones which are present and their respective stages.

I was excited for this until I saw Deadly Alliance is the game boy advance version. I just want the regular version.

Trilogy was by far my favorite MK. I’d buy a remaster or whatever in a second!

Will these versions be totally accurate in being able to adjust gameplay settings on a macro-level like arcade owners were able to do in debug mode?

Given that a full-length documentary is included, plus so many different games, that could be a very large download file, especially in high resolution. As such, I think they'd be complete idiots not to offer a physical release; it also serves as a backup in case something needs to be reinstalled later.

EDIT: I just looked it up, and it appears that the first five arcade games (including Ultimate MK3) had a total file size of around 450 MB. That may seem like nothing now, but if they increase the resolution to work with the PS5, the amount of data would increase exponentially...making a physical copy even more necessary.

MK1's enemy AI, seems fair and more realistic.
MK2's AI, relentless and doesn't stop for a second (on Genesis especially). So you literally jump into the air to kick and the enemy AI CPU already kicks you out of the air before you even had a chance. Really unfair. Street Fighter 2's AI CPU players are like that too. They counter every move you can make. It seems like you're fighting a chess match with the smartest computer ever.

I remember the story a little. The actor who played many characters didn't get paid on the royalties for the console likeness of his image, and was upset. Something like that. He played the Ninja's, Johnny Cage, I think it was Dan Pesina, brother of Carlos (still with the MK team) playing the roles, including Rayden, inspired from the Big Trouble in Little China movie with Kurt Russell.

That would be great and something missing in all the versions I've played.
I'll set it to easy mode to start if possible.

It went further than just Daniel Pesina; Elizabeth Malecki and Kaitlin Zamiar also sued Midway and lost - I think Phillip Ahn may have been involved too. As such, they were all recast for the third game, with John Turk, Kerri Hoskins, and Becky Gable respectfully. Chris Alexander replaced Pesina for Johnny Cage.

I've seen some studies into how many fighting games AI opponents "Cheat", doing things like reading inputs or having programming that changes the rules for them (ie: doing things no human player can). One such video shows how to game the system. Effective, but these games are more fun when they're about matching skills; would be nice to have that option in single player.

One example in MK2 is that in a certain mode, the CPU fighters can throw an opponent any time, and are actually programmed to do a throw instead of the human player when the button is pressed, even during the 'Finish Him/Her' segments!

I'm still interested in the collection, but I dare say the best single player MK experiences come from fan made AI adjustments, where the AI is redesigned to present a challenge based on matching skills instead of Rules for Thee Not for Me.
