USA The Viewer 3D Blu-ray [Region Free] 15 min short included on I Can See You

I Can See You Blu-ray 3D REGION FREE

I Can See You is a 2D movie but The Viewer is a 15 minute short filmed in 3D and included in that format on the Blu-ray. A red/blue anaglyph version is also included (as are two pairs of glasses) and it also plays in 2D.

Thanks for flagging, just pre-ordered. I'll take all the 3D shorts and 3D horror I can, and this is both.

Did some digging and the short premiered at The LA 3D Film Festival in 2010. It was also included on the Kino Lorber DVD release of I Can See You, albeit in 480p anaglyph 3D. Anyone who's seen it, would've seen from those two sources.

Also the director, Graham Reznick, went on to write the horror games Until Dawn and The Quarry.

There are clips in this mini-doc:

If you want to jump to the part where the director talks about the short it's 7 mins 53 seconds in.

So the movie is 2D but it has a 3D special? Weird. And I'd never even heard of this movie.

As the short was also on the DVD it would probably be weird if it wasn't on the Blu-ray. It's an obscure film for sure. I watch a lot of horror and I had never heard of it. Looks very arty so not the kind of thing I would buy if it didn't have a 3D short on the disc.

I'll wait to see what others think and how strong it is. $35 is a lot for a short (which is all I'd be interested in).

This arrived last night. I watched The Viewer and it's a trippy good time. 15 minutes of native, hyper-stereo 3D.

It's more trippy than scary, but the concept is fun. The film puts you in the POV of a murderer undergoing psychic interrogation, and your immersion increases from Level 1 to Level 10 throughout the film. I watched with a friend and we had fun debating which were our favorite levels.

The low budget shows in a couple scenes. There's one camera setup where the shutters may have been out of phase. But that's just one blemish among 15 minutes of demo-worthy hyper-stereo. The Viewer is playful and much more accessible than most "experimental" films. Compared to something like Prototype, this is infinitely less esoteric. It's closer in spirit to Cinesapiens. You can feel the filmmakers having fun with the third dimension, and they bring you along for the ride.

I highly recommend this curio, especially if you're looking for a pre-show short for your next 3D horror screening.

That pretty much sums up my opinion of the film. I just watched it on my OLED and was impressed with the strength of the 3D. There are perhaps a few too many shots looking up at buildings but there are also some super-strong hand-held shots and the whole thing is well structured and engaging.

Though the site listing says it's untested in Region B and C, I can confirm that it plays fine in my Region B player and is marked Region ABC.
