Also no HDR, so I guess that’s Lynch’s choice.

He probably just didn't get to supervise it before he died and they opted to release what he had supervised. I'm guessing that Eraserhead, when it comes to UHD, will not have HDR.

It's because it's the same master that's been floating around since 2013-2014 so was finished in SDR. As a result, HDR wouldn't do it much favors so Criterion opted to just leave it as is. I had a feeling this would happen in all honesty.

I guess the (my) hope was that Lynch had supervised new masters before his death and Criterion just hadn't slotted them for release.

We're at least fortunate it's still a really good looking master to begin with, only thing that bothers me is the opening music being chopped off by about 15 seconds.

No HDR? I’m gonna take the wait and see approach on this one.

It was probably too much to expect the Missing Pieces to be 4K too, but I'm in for this on day 1.

Pretty sure The Missing Pieces were finished at 2k. They'd have to re-do it all. (Would be great if they did though!)

Since I have the Twin Peaks Z-A Box Set, there was no personal incentive to get the Criterion release unless it gets a 4K HDR upgrade. Since it has no HDR option, the 4K itself seems superfluous.

No HDR is very strange but this should still be a substantial upgrade in detail and encoding from the two previous discs like Mishima was.

Maybe David wanted it to be consistent with the series?

As explained previously, it's an SDR master and so HDR wouldn't do it much favors

I thought the compression on the French disc was adequate.
