Default PS3 Controller malfunction

I have been having some issues with one of my PS3 controllers. Every once in a while I'll be playing COD4 and it seems as if the signal from my controller to the PS3 gets "stuck". My guy will basically start spinning, walking, etc on his own in one direction. For example, if I go to turn right, it keeps turning and turning for a few seconds then eventually stops. It only does it every so often, but can obviously lead to problems in a game such as that. Has anybody else run into this problem? Any idea? Should I try resetting the controller, or just return it?

Nope, you're not the only one... happens to me too. I think it has to do with a malfunction in bluetooth communication, maybe some type of interference or something.

Thanks! I guess that's good news and bad news. Good that I'm not the only one. Bad that it apparently means no fixing it!

Try holding down the ps button for a few seconds, and go back into the game if it continues..

Check to see if you have another controller ps2 or ps3, connected to your ps3, sometimes a ps2 controller gets assigned controller slot 1 over the ps3 controller, and when you reassign the ps3 controller to one they fight over what controls what.

Both controllers fighting for slot one is very funny.. the ps2 controller will start to output randomly causing random stuff.

This happens to me when I get a connection error while playing online. But everytime it happens I get booted and have to start another game.
