Warner Bros The Alto Knights 4K UHD (2025)

Warner will be releasing The Alto Knights, which stars Robert De Niro, on 4K UHD. This is a MOD release which actually came out on July 15th, so it's in stock now and currently shipping.

Quote:
The Alto Knights stars Academy Award winner Robert De Niro in a dual role, directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barry Levinson. The film follows two of New York's most notorious organized crime bosses, Frank Costello (De Niro) and Vito Genovese (De Niro), as they vie for control of the city's streets. Once the best of friends, petty jealousies and a series of betrayals place them on a deadly collision course that will reshape the Mafia (and America) forever.

What?! I'm not complaining about another new release on 4K UHD, but at the same time, feel bad for anyone who bought the Blu-ray. It's strange to me that they couldn't have announced this as coming at a later date, like what Universal did with Conclave.

On the other hand, maybe this gives us hope for late Eastwood films like Juror #2 or the cancelled Richard Jewell.

I must admit I have avoided this film after seeing the trailer.

Is it any good?

I have the same question, i don't subscribe to streaming movie services so the only thing I know about this film is that Robert DeNiro had a public meltdown when it flopped

Saw this one theatrically. It's worth watching mainly for De Niro's performance. He's outstanding as Frank Costello.

The film probably needed better, surer direction or a screenplay with a more definite sense of purpose. It's not bad; it just ends up being a bit middle of the road, to be completely honest. I liked it, but there are more obvious recent films that I'd recommend to others before this one.

I would say it's only worth buying for those with a long-time interest in or love of gangster/mob-related films. So, I'll probably order it.

Glad I held off the Blu-ray too.

I watched the first 30 minutes. I have no desire to watch the rest. I will pass on picking this up.

I've mostly seen negatives about it. I think the biggest complaint I saw is that it's just rather dull, and too heavy on dialogue. I think it's probably one of the times where people expect a typical De Niro mafia type of film, and get something completely different.

Do other studios do these MOD releases? I'd be down for September 5 and The Apprentice in a heartbeat

It’s great it’s got a 4K release but damn Warner for not releasing it same day as the Blu-ray.

I also saw this at the cinema and would seriously caution people of blind-buying this movie. It has a lot of the ingredients of a good mob movie, but assembled without any real structure or sense of pace. Scenes are edited bizarrely - they seem to drag on and on to the point where characters repeat themselves. De Niro does what he can but the characters are so thinly written there's nothing to grab onto.

Buy with caution!

I'm surprised that Gruv hasn't added this to their stock.
