United Kingdom Capricorn One / Eagle Has Landed on BD

I see from the Amazon.co.uk site that "Capricorn One" and "The Eagle Has Landed" are available in England on Blu-ray. DVD Talk even has a review of "Capricorn One" at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=32412
I've enjoyed both of these films and would love to have them on BD. Does anyone know if they will be released here in the U.S.

Capricorn 1 does not bear any region code information on it, so being a catalogue item I would say that it is region free... so you could import it.

There are no extras with this disc, but the PQ is pretty good for a movie of it's period and budget. The case does have an error... it reports the aspect ratio at 4:3... don't worry it's displayed in scope.

This link indicates that it's Region 2 which makes no sense:

http://www.choicesuk.com/Product.aspx/!694049

Blu-rays are Region A, B and C, right?

Correct... I suspect the title may be region free (like Paramount & Warner Bros) as there is no region code printed on it. Beware though that the packaging is inaccurate (see above).

I just imported it and watched it tonight. 100% region free! The movie looks fantastic in BD. The aspect ratio is 2.35:1 and the running time is 123 min.

Here's a review from DVDtalk.com

They probably will be released anyday now cause I couldn't care less about these movies. And lately lots of movies, that I don't care about, are released on BD.
And I mean this in the nicest way possible.

Capricorn One is a nice BD, but missing the extra features that were on the previous DVD versions (trailers for the US DVD and a making of featurette and trailer for the UK DVD).

Lionsgate is re-releasing a DVD version of Capricorn One. It could very well end up being released domestically on Blu-ray as well. I am gonna wait awhile before I pull the trigger on the import. However, for those of you interested, "Escape to Athena," "The Eagle Has Landed," "Great Expectations" and "The Boys From Brazil" are all region-free imports from ITV.

I purchased both "Capricorn One" and "The Eagle Has Landed" from Xploited. I'll be buying "The Boys From Brazil" soon. And I do CARE ABOUT these films being released on Blu-Ray, as catalog titles are my MAIN objective in collecting.

Just posted on Network's Facebook page

It has come to our attention that a small number of the initial shipment of the new Capricorn One Blu Ray have a picture fault which is visible on certain home video setups. If you believe that you have one of these discs then please contact us directly at shop@networkonair.com with your contact details and where you bought the Blu-ray.

It's a good job Network are no longer touting this as a NEW High Definition transfer, because I would've asked for my money back if I were them. It's a soft, old transfer with plenty of telecine judder and it's got pasty, pallid colour. If I'm being honest I don't think the old ITV Blu-ray looked as low-rent as this, though it's probably the same transfer with a bit of extra dust busting.

I saw the momentary blocking in the opening scene, but what horrified me even more was the nasty banding throughout that sunrise shot. Add to that the plain stereo sound (even the ****ing Pioneer laserdisc had 5.1) and no new contemporary extras (it's all old EPK type stuff), and this is a massive missed opportunity by Network.

Sod waiting for a replacement, I'm sending it back and getting a refund.
