RADIANCE FILMS ANNOUNCES NEW BLU-RAY AND 4K UHD IMPRINT TRANSMISSION

FIRST TITLE NIGHT OF THE JUGGLER COMING NOVEMBER 17TH IN 4K UHD

The new imprint will focus on revitalising left-of-the-dial cult classics with new 4K restorations, newly commissioned special features, and limited-edition packaging

7th August 2025 - Radiance Films today announces the launch of Transmission, a new imprint for UK Blu-ray and 4K UHD releases, focusing on offbeat cult classics and underappreciated genre film-making.

Equally inspired by late-night TV oddities, all-night cinemas such as the Scala and 42nd Street grindhouses, and the video shop experience of the 80s and 90s, Transmission will invite new audiences to recapture that same thrill of discovery with its upcoming slate of left-of-the-dial UHD and Blu-ray titles.

Future Transmission titles include underseen genre gems; an offbeat cult classic about the perils of movie-making; an acclaimed touchstone of 1970s horror, and one of the most outrageous black comedies of the 80s. All currently planned titles will be receiving their UK Blu-ray premieres.

The first Transmission title will be 1979’s Night of the Juggler, a long-unavailable action-crime cult-classic that sees the mean streets of 70s New York become a battleground as an ex-cop (James Brolin) mercilessly attempts to track down the psychopath (Cliff Gorman) who has kidnapped his daughter.

Night of the Juggler will be released in a dual format 4K UHD and Blu-ray on November 17th, with the film newly restored in 4K and presented in Dolby Vision HDR, and accompanied by an array of special features, a 40 page bound book, poster, a set of lobby card postcards, and limited edition packaging.

Radiance Films also holds all rights for Night of the Juggler in the UK and Ireland, and plans theatrical events plus digital and streaming presentations to follow.

Pre-orders for the dual format 4K UHD of Night of the Juggler go live on Radiance’s website at 11am tomorrow (8th August) alongside regular Radiance November announcements.

Don't think Morvern Callar is ever going to happen for the UK, so you may as well get the Fun City disc (which is Region Free anyway). You could get it for as little as £10 delivered until recently...looks like it might be nearly OOP now though.

No way! Where was it a tenner? (Edit: Found it, but it's from the USA so shipping will probably be about €870,912 plus taxes and duties) Its about €30 on Amazon IE and UK currently. I haven't seen it since it was first released about 23 or so years ago. Absolutely whopper film. Which version is best? Fun City (who did Walking The Edge, which is STILL not sold out, unreal) or that one with the orange cover? Or the VS one?

There's loads of potential with TX here. Perhaps a UK/Ireland output arm for some VS titles? Huge opportunity for some absolute stonkers!

No idea why that great Ramsay film doesn't have a UK release but the US is excellent The re-release artwork also has a reversible cover with the old artwork and new design too.

Rarewaves USA was selling it for twelve quid with minimal P&P for a while on eBay, managed to nab it myself a few months ago but looks like they're out of stock now. And they're all the same disc AFAIK, the orange is the standard edition (with reversible cover) and the other two are limited slipcovers.

Nah that's tacky, and was a short-lived trend that everyone from HMV to Zavvi tried to peddle. Nobody really wanted them and they had trouble shifting them.

Lean into the VHS aesthetic a little, but don't pretend it's something it's not.

I was thinking about this film last night and I think it's a gem of 70s cinema. I know it's 1980 but they started in 1979

This also came to mind for early 1980s:



It has a DVD it needs HD love.

TX could find itself quite a niche in the UK and I'll be doing all I can to support them.

I hope TX tell us where they find these films -that to me is very interesting.

They have launched at a good time. Other genre labels are too obsessed with re-releases in 4K or mainstream titles or they are too focused on a particular niche (martial arts) at the expense of other genres.

I was also thinking earlier how I’d love for Fort Apache The Bronx to get a Transmission release (although to be fair I’m often wondering why it’s not had a release in almost 25 years).

I was in the video business for years in the 80s and never seen that Merlin on a shelf. I do remember seeing trade adverts for it and a broken Betamax tape with no cover. That other release could be a bit dodgy I've seen Academy releases before around 1987 IIRC.
