Is this an extremely belated sequel to that crappy 2007 Jason Statham / Jet Li movie?

No, it's a sequel to War (2019) by Siddharth Anand.

This is a fantastic action movie, especially if you get to watch it in IMAX, like I did.

Basically, this movie is everything the last couple of M:I movies failed so spectacularly at trying to be: it is a truly epic, globe-trotting, fast-paced adventure with plenty of unbelievable action, carefully developed relationships, a few flashbacks explaining how some characters met years ago - and despite its 170-minutes running time, it doesn't feel a second too long.

There's a scene with characters fighting for their lives on top of a flying airplane - this easily tops everything in the last M:I movies, it is a truly breathtaking setpiece that will have you on the edge of your seat!

Also, where else would you see an action movie where the protagonists sing and dance while holding hands?

This movie is everything, the best action movie of the summer, and it's not even close!!

P.S. the star of the movie, Hrithik Roshan, was also the lead in last year's Figher, which was essentially India's answer to Top Gun. And he was so good in that one, too!! He's Bollywood's Tom Cruise, except that he's actually good looking, he's got real charisma, amazing dancing skills, and in pretty much every way, he's the real deal!

I took my then girlfriend/now wife to see this; she loves Jason Statham. I had forgotten almost everything about it after we walked to the car. (She wasn't impressed, either.)

I will watch this eventually. The first one was an okay entertainer. Hrithik's films from a decade ago were even much better but can't blame him alone when entire Bollywood has lost its mojo now. But one thing for sure, he is an one man army who can carry all these movies.

Is this in 3D? I don't see any sign of it. The last one I wanted to see from Bollywood that was in 3D though was $30 for a ticket. I said "Wait, how much?" I had to walk away as that was asking too much to see a 3D movie which is normally $15. They got too greedy (a distribution movie studio).

One thing I'll say, having seen about 8 3D Bollywood style theatrical films in theaters, is the Bollywood action scenes are really well filmed and choreographed, with some very epic action and fight scenes, gun battles. They really know how to deliver on the action scenes when the characters aren't singing and dancing (which is usually entertaining to watch too surprisingly).

I don’t think this movie got converted and it doesn’t seem to be playing in 3D anywhere in the world

Okay. Thanks for the info on that. Good to hear it was an entertaining movie. They're usually lengthy films so a good window of time is required, maybe 3 hours+.

They’re showing it without intermission here in the US - and it absolutely doesn’t feel like it needs one. It really doesn’t feel like it’s almost 3 hours long.
