I'll wait for Paramount to punt them out in the US if uncut International Cut at the very least. I have a feeling these "independent" labels getting them like Signature in the UK means the new Encore cut.

At least this might be a 4K of the sequel that’s authored properly with HDR and Dolby Vision.

There's a statement from the German label boss:

Quote:
Hello xxx,

Thank you for your message. I just saw the discussion. First of all, I would like to mention that we are very happy to be able to release both parts of Crocodile Dundee in 4K. The restoration took two years and the result is really good. From now on, there will only be one version of Crocodile Dundee, namely the version approved by Paul Hogan without the two short scenes where he grabs someone between the legs in the bar and at the party. We tried everything to release the original version with the two scenes, but Paul Hogan would not approve it. He said it was either that or the film could not be released. And it's not just Paul Hogan, but also the director and the production company who only want to see the film released in its current version. Personally, I would have preferred to release both versions and let fans choose which one they wanted to see. However, I don't think the film has lost any of its impact in its current form, as it's not actual scenes that are missing, just a few short shots. We have been able to include some great bonus material, including the new cinema documentary Love of an Icon, which has just been released in Australian cinemas. We have also produced German and English Dolby Atmos and 5.1 audio tracks (the original stereo mix is also included). I hope this is some small compensation.

Best regards,

Gerhard Winkler

Quote:
Hallo xxx,

Gerhard Winkler

Ehhhh, not if you’ve cut bits out of it to mirror the Encore Cut, Gerhard.

Why would they.

The 4K restoration was of the International version from which the two scenes have been cut to make the Encore cut. That’s all we’re getting on UHD in Australia, Germany and U.K. to date.

Don’t think anyone’s restored the Australian theatrical version and that was never released overseas as Paramount have the rights and did their own cut.

The director doesn’t really agree with the decision. Paramount is cool.

I will just stick with blu-ray if only this butchered cut is available on 4k.

I'll stick with the Blu-ray of the first film. That way I remain in control of the version I want to watch. I will not support unnecessary imposed censorship.

I wish the various boutique labels when told it was the butchered cut or nothing had told them to **** off and not bothered with it.

I can only hope the sales of Crocodile Dundee II dwarf that of the first movie to clearly illustrate to these people just how foolish it was to try and suppress the theatrical cut.

With all due disrespect to the label, I would've passed rather than take on the Encore Cut (and BTW, Encore means something the people want more of, not less!)

BINGO! The misuse of the word "Encore". Makes me think of The Joker in "The Dark Knight", when he tells Batman......"Very Poor Choice of Words"

Should be called the “We’re scared of a few thousand neurotic overgrown theatre kids with nose piercings on Twitter who won’t buy this either way” edition.
