I have an AC outlet on the ceiling for the projector. I built a little shelf and attached it to the ceiling next to the projector. The surge protector and power conditioner is on the shelf. I bought all the material for the shelf from Home Depot.

i am going to use one of these http://www.panamax.com/Products/In-W...ERKIT-PRO.aspx
you can get them for about $200 that way i can use the power conditioner and ups in the rack for the projector and have the ability to switch everything off or unplug it for vacation or severe storms. you have to be very careful with what you get, just running the wire from the power conditioner through the wall to an outlet will not meet code. The literature also mentions requiring a dedicated curcuit for everything. Sounds like I'll need to get a good electrician involved. |

A power conditioner is one thing but check out Purepoweraps.com
This beast has a Battery back-up so you can still run the fan to cool down your lamp in a power outage as opposed to letting it bake to failure. If you've got a good investment in your projo... this is the way to go. 65 pounds of power re-conditioning and battery back-up. About 1000 watts draw is your limit though. |

i forgot to ask if you already had an outlet on the ceiling where your projector is
all the panamax does is allow you to plug your projector into the power conditioner you use for your other components and meet code, you would still need a power conditioner but this would be the best way to go if you wanted great protection without having the power conditioner near your projector. for this you would need to run a wire in wall from the outlet where your projector is to your audio and video rack and install the kit then you would plug your projector into the wall outlet on the ceiling and plug the other wall jack into your power conditioner. you could also use an in wall power conditioner like this http://www.amazon.com/PS-Audio-Soloist-wall-conditioner/dp/B000QC78IY this would replace the outlet that your projector plugs into and will give you surge suppression and cleaner power. please note this will not be quiet as good as using an external power conditioner but it will get the job done with minimal work and no visible power conditioner. |
