So I work for best buy here in NY area and I walked into work 2 days ago and saw this.

Same here. After hearign a report on these forums, sure enough I went into my Best Buy today to find the '30% off all HD' rack right in front, and right behind it, a section of shelves (15-20 ft?) with Blu only.

I was kind of disappointed that they didn't put up an explanation as to WHY everything is 30% off. A lot of people may think that this is just a sale.

Word from another Best Buy employee member is that this is the only discount. Whatever is left over in a month will be shipped back.

No, you won't. This is the only discount

Any further discount/bogo on HD DVD will be in the form of online blowouts at places like Amazon and DDD

I think you're half right (the first half). The posted internal Best Buy memo made it very clear that HD DVDs are going to be cut to 30% off until 4/6, then they will be returned, and there will be no other prices changes between now and then.

They actually marked up the price to compensate for the 30% off at my Best Buy.

NOT a deal. 30% off of a $35 HD-DVD is NOT a deal. I consider myself a BB fan at times, but this is crazy. They may have been able to recoup a few bucks, but at this price in my area, they are not moving these at all.

So for it to be a deal, it requires them to lose money is what you're saying? Wholesale is 35%, before shipping and cost of doing buisness
