I don't see the 5 BD rebate coming back, but as some have said, there is still promoting to do, so I would not be surprised if they start packing like 2 BD's and a game with their systems.

Just buy when ever your ready, there is no major benefit in buying now or waiting, although the more you wait the more your loosing out on amazing graphics and game play.

I am going to get another PS3 for my bedroom soon. ( that will be the 3rd in the house, roomate just got one) Im waiting for a price drop as it will be mainly a movie player. However, waiting for the new MGS bundle may be the best thing to do for me. I huess those will be after june 12th. Is this FOR SURE going to be a bundle?

No. The 5 Freebies were a promotion to encourage people to buy Blu-Ray over HD DVD. Now that HD DVD is dead, the promotion isn't needed to encourge people to choose one format over the other.

I think it will return later in the year. Studios want Blu-ray to become mainstream which means there is still some promoting to do. DVD had promotions like this long after DIVX was dead.

That said I doubt the PS3 will be included in the promotion in the future.

The only reason I would wait would be to get the MGS4, 80GB PS3, Dualshock3 bundle that's coming out in June.

To me, Backwards compatibility was important, so I was going to wait until then since the 40GB has no BC.... but I found a random 80GB in my local Kmart still on the shelves so I jumped on it.

Offering 5 free movies from a selection of movies that aren't selling so well (either because they're dated or average) is a WIN-WIN proposition for the BDA. I don't see why they would'nt offer it again at some point...

As for the PS3, the ONLY reasons to wait are:

A) a new .45nm version

B) price drop

Both of which are probably going to happen before Halloween but not before late August (IMHO).

P.S. The new 499$ MSG4 bundled PS3 coming in June might be of the .45nm variety... but don't expect that bundle to drop in price before well into the Fall...

June can't get here quick enough. My 60gb is just too loud for movies, so I am eagerly awaiting the MGS bundle and hoping its at least the same 65nm chip that is in the 40gb.

I'd get a 40gb - but backwards compatibility is important to me - big ps2 library.
