Red face Does Blu-Ray player work on PAL format discs?

I have a movie that is only available in PAL format (not NTSC). Will a Blu-Ray DVD player read it? Many thanks.

Default My U.S. model BDP-S1 will not play PAL discs

I have a Sony BDP-S1 player purchased in the U.S. It does a great job on Hollywood BluRay releases and my own DVD+R discs. I had converted a few of my projects to PAL for European friends, and not suprisingly, they do not play in my BDP-S1. While there is a scaler in firmware that could theoretically take any size up to 1080x1920, I suspect they skip 576x720 primarialy to "protect" Hollywood content by region.
