Default Dances With Wolves to get 181 minute theatrical version

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay maybe some of you will enjoy sitting through the 181 minute version instead of the 236, but I was hoping for that full version. I wouldn't cut a minute of it.

Oh well, Dances in 1080p with DTS-MA 5.1 will still be worth it.

Doing the 236 minute version with AVC and DTS-MA would have put to rest any of those statements about getting the 4+ hr releases on the 30GB HD DVDs.

Oh well, maybe next time.

Wait till Warner releases LOTR 3 on THD with an extra HD DVD disc for the bits that wouldn't fit.

Ha ha. I know it won't happen, they'll probably use an HD30/BD50 and HD30/BD25 2 disc set.

If I were warner and wanted to insult HD DVD id use HD30/BD50 2 disk set with the second BD having the same copy of the first .

If they gave us everything the first time, how could they double dip in the future.

Not buying it. I try to limit my double-dipping as much as possible.

We all got shafted many times over with DVD multiple releases and it indeed looks like some studios are getting ready to do it all over again. I guess they figure this will be the last format for many, many years and if they can sell the same film twice instead of once one last time, why not?
Like the ROCKY BD disc with ZERO extras when a 2 disc SD SE was just released. shameful. Do it right or don't do it at all...

just my 2 cents

They did that with X-Men Last Stand as well; super sweet DVD edition, but Blu ray only had a standard package. Makes less sense than an amish electrician.

And no, I don't think anyone is selling blu-ray discs at a loss. BD50s are reportedly $1.50 to produce (source: answers.com). Royalties for what's on them can't be that much more. More importantly, studios sell movies to make money, not lose it.

i hear that, that's why im hesitant toward a lot of these 1st released on Blu-ray movies and is the main reason im holding off on a lot of the titles. Each of the movies released on BD should carry at least whatever the best version of the DVD's have on them and infact should surpass it. i really don't want to be buying the same movies three times over.

You liked it on HBO when it was 181 minutes, 20 minutes away from 201 minutes, but say "f that" to additions you haven't even seen?
Ha, ha, that's quite comical.

has anyone noticed that as they get older, it is harder to sit through the longer movies....

my wife and I have yet to watch American Ganster solely because of its length...
8:15 pm rolls around(movie time)....

I wouldn't watch American Gangster again, I found it too slow to be interesting.

DWW on the other hand is completely mesmerizing....even if you have to watch it in two parts!

Once Upon A Time in America was 229 minutes. Thank God we finally got the full version Sergio Leone intended to be seen....it's a thousand times better than the crappy theatrical version.

If there is an extended/director's cut of a movie I always prefer that one. Every single time. I personally enjoy long movies. For example, I never watch the Theatrical versions of LOTR. I never watch the Theatrical cuts of the Alien movies. I never watch the Theatrical cut of Terminator 2. I feel like I am missing part of the movie, so I never bother with shorter versions. The only movies I want in their original form is the Original Trilogy of Star Wars on BR.

This is typical and disappointing that DWW will only get the Theatrical version in BR. I figured this would happen when I read about the release. It seems movies always get the shorter version released first on BR, they did the same with Ultraviolet as well as many others. Corporations do this on purpose to charge more later for the longer version. I find it despicable. Everything is about milking money, not quality and giving people what they want. Why not just do it right the first time and be done with it? I for one will pass on this until the extended version is released, if ever. I simply have no use for shorter versions of movies.
