Default Cant play a bluray movie

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-FZ180E laptop with a Panasonic Matshita BD-MLT UJ220V ATA Drive. Driver Version 6.0.6000.16386, and File version 8.0.0.212, with Windows Vista Home Premium, and InterVideo WinDVD 8 Version 8.0 DXVA B08.416

The problem is that I cannot play AVP2: Requiem, which is wierd becuase I can play Live Free or Die Hard on bluray. A buddy of mine has a laptop with a bluray drive and it can play AVP2, so I now it isnt the disc thats the issue. I have tried looking in the firmware area and found nothing for disk drives, and alot for stand alone players. I have also tried several updates for my Intervideo software and can not seem to find an update for it.

Can someone please help me out?

The pre-installed WinDVD BD for VAIO?
The Intervideo WinDVD BD for VAIO is lacking.
I have several discs that will not play in WinDVD BD - no errors or anything... WinDVD BD just sat there.

I finally got PowerDVD Ultra. Everything I have thrown at it has played.

Newest WinDVD is from Corel:

$89.99

Welcome...cool handle.

Do you have a stand alone or a PS3??

I'm sure it's just a software issue that will be resolved the next time you upgrade.

Hopefully you have a friend who will want to watch it with you at their house.

By the way...you said your buddy's CPU can paly AVP2 but can it play YOUR COPY of AVP2

Worst case scenario, go to a store that sells Blu Ray players and tell them your story...most sales guys will be cool to a brother and just let you throw it in a player real quick to check it out.

Good luck though I hope it works out in the end.

Stay Blu.

The problem with AVP2 is that WinDVD has an issue of not be able to get past the BD+ encryption.

Try the Total Media Player (Arcsoft). I have seen some good reports. And there is a trial version.
